Chapter 98: A Rescue
“Jianxiong, how are you feeling? Are you any better now?” Qin Sumei anxiously grasped his hand, her voice trembling with worry.
“I… what’s happening to me?” Fang Jianxiong’s whole body was weak. Struggling to keep his eyes open through the pain, he asked feebly.
“Jianxiong, you’ve been poisoned. Doctor Xu is treating you with acupuncture. Just lie still for now; you’ll be fine soon,” Qin Sumei reassured him as best she could.
“Poisoned?”
A wave of confusion washed over Fang Jianxiong, but moments later his expression suddenly stiffened as he recalled what Lin Feng had told him earlier that day.
He had warned him that the poison in his body wouldn’t last more than a day. At the time, Jianxiong hadn’t believed him. Now, it seemed he truly was poisoned!
So Lin Feng wasn’t a fraud after all—he was a genuine healer!
“The needle is going against the flow. The fifth one can’t be inserted,” Doctor Xu’s voice suddenly brought grim news before Fang Jianxiong could even react.
Jianxiong watched as the flames flickering from the first four needles were being forced out—the poison had completely infiltrated his heart’s meridians.
Soon after, his entire body convulsed, and foam bubbled at the corners of his mouth.
“Doctor Xu, what’s happening? Hurry and finish the treatment!” Qin Sumei urged anxiously.
“Madam, I’m afraid there’s nothing more I can do. The acupuncture sequence isn’t complete, and the poison has begun to backfire. If I insert another needle now, the head of the Fang family will die immediately,” Doctor Xu stated bluntly.
“What? This…”
“Quick, fetch Lin Feng—the Divine Doctor!” Fang Jianxiong’s consciousness was fading fast as he trembled, calling out to those around him.
“Dad, who did you say?” Fang Huihui heard her father’s words but couldn’t catch them clearly. She hurried closer to his ear.
“Go to the Su family and bring Lin Feng, the Divine Doctor. Only he can save me.”
After saying this, Fang Jianxiong collapsed unconscious.
“The Su family? Lin Feng?” Fang Huihui furrowed her brow. Though she didn’t know who Lin Feng was, from her father’s tone she roughly understood where to find him.
Without hesitation, she set off that very night, driving straight to the Su residence.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng had long since gone to bed, patiently waiting for Su Qingxue to finish her shower, eager to enjoy the reward she was about to give him.
His heart raced nervously. He wondered, could Qingxue be serious tonight? Was she really planning to take their relationship to the next level this evening?
“Lin Feng, are you ready? I’m coming in now,” came a soft voice knocking on the door.
Lin Feng’s mouth suddenly went dry. Flustered, he quickly adjusted his emotions and replied, “Qingxue, wait a moment. I’m not quite ready yet.”
He sat cross-legged on the bed, earnestly reciting a calming incantation to keep himself composed.
No matter what Qingxue thought, tonight was not the time for that kind of intimacy.
“Heh, still shy, huh? I’m coming in,” Su Qingxue teased as she gently pushed the door open and walked inside.
She immediately saw Lin Feng sitting there with his eyes closed, meditating, and couldn’t help but chuckle to herself. She thought, this guy really believes I’m going to do something to him?
Actually, Su Qingxue was dressed in pajamas, holding a handful of dates she had prepared to eat. She had deliberately scared Lin Feng earlier; now that she was done washing the dates, she came to his room to let him enjoy them.
It seemed he had truly misunderstood!
“Calm heart, free from desire, no wants or needs, the dual paths of heaven and earth—divine power can be attained,” Lin Feng recited faster and louder, sensing Qingxue drawing nearer.
Su Qingxue approached slowly, deliberately placing a hand on his cheek, teasing, “Lin Feng, why don’t you eat? I washed the dates for you. They’re very clean.”
Lin Feng felt a warm breath brush across his face. His heart surged as his mind became completely mesmerized by Qingxue’s graceful figure.
The calming chant he was repeating suddenly lost all power.
“Lin Feng, open your eyes and have a look. They’re really sweet when you eat them. Don’t you want to try?” Qingxue fluttered her beautiful eyes, tempting him.
“Qingxue, we’re not officially together yet, and we’re not married. We shouldn’t do those kinds of things. You should put your clothes back on—I’m afraid I won’t be able to control myself,” Lin Feng blushed deeply, feeling as if his breath was on fire.
Qingxue stifled a laugh. “What are you talking about? I just want you to eat some dates. How could that make you lose control?”
“Do your dates wear clothes or something?”
“Huh?”
Lin Feng was puzzled by her strange words. When he opened his eyes, he suddenly realized that the “washing” of dates Qingxue mentioned wasn’t what he had imagined.
“Qingxue, you actually washed those dates?”
“Yes. What else did you think I was washing? You don’t think that after washing, I’d come find you, do you?” Qingxue pointed at Lin Feng and scolded him playfully, making his cheeks flush crimson.
He quickly shook his head to explain, “Don’t misunderstand. That’s not what I meant.”
“I think it’s exactly what you meant. You’re so sly. You don’t seem like that on the surface, but you’re really quite lecherous.”
“Do you still have that photo I sent you the night before last on your phone?”
As she spoke, Qingxue reached for Lin Feng’s phone. He snatched it back, feeling guilty. “That’s my privacy. Give me back my phone.”
“No! I want to see it.”
Qingxue held tightly to Lin Feng’s phone. In their tussle, she suddenly slipped, falling against him.
Lin Feng was completely unprepared. He felt a warm body press against his chest. As he toppled back, Qingxue’s body pinned him down, making it hard for him to breathe.
Without restraint, Qingxue’s lips met his in a kiss.
Suddenly, Qingxue’s cheeks flushed as red as an apple. She hurriedly scrambled up, covering her lips and turning her head away. “Lin Feng, you’re so bad.”
“It’s not my fault. You seduced me first. If you don’t leave soon, don’t blame me for being rude,” Lin Feng teased, his desire rising.
“You…” Qingxue was about to protest when the doorbell rang unexpectedly.
Both of them looked puzzled. Who could be knocking so late?
Lin Feng told her to rest inside as he went downstairs alone to answer the door.
When he opened it, a woman in pajamas with short shoulder-length hair stood before him, her figure strikingly perfect.
“May I ask who you’re looking for?” Lin Feng asked curiously.
“I’m looking for Lin Feng. Is there a Lin Feng here?” Fang Huihui asked coldly.
“That’s me. What do you need?” Lin Feng said in surprise, eyeing the unfamiliar woman.
“You’re Lin Feng?” Fang Huihui was taken aback. Could the Lin Feng she’d heard of really be such a young man?
He hardly looked like a doctor.
“That’s right. Who are you?” Lin Feng asked, equally surprised.
