Chapter 64: Marching Forth to Demand Justice
Ten minutes later, Su Shifeng appeared at the entrance of Liran Group.
He gazed once more at the towering, magnificent façade of the company, silently encouraging himself. This time, he was determined not to leave without meeting Chairman Zhou.
As the saying goes, a fall into the pit, a gain in your wit. Having learned from his previous failure, Su Shifeng was much cleverer now.
“Brother security guard, we meet again—what a coincidence,” Su Shifeng said with a smile as he approached the entrance, spotting from afar the security guard who had beaten him last time, and greeted him proactively.
“Well, look who it is! I didn’t expect you to be doing so poorly. In just a few days, how did you end up crippled?” The security guard glanced contemptuously at Su Shifeng sitting in a wheelchair, mocking, “So, what brings you here again? Looking to get beaten?”
“You’re too harsh, brother. I’ve already witnessed your prowess; I wouldn’t dare invite trouble. I’m here today to make amends, to offer a token of apology. Please accept it as a gesture of respect.” With that, Su Shifeng pulled out two packs of cigarettes and a red envelope, indicating that the security guard should take them.
Inwardly, he thought: You dog, once I secure the deal, I’ll settle accounts with you.
The security guard’s eyes lit up at the sight of the gifts. He feigned a cough, walked over to Su Shifeng, and grinned, “Glad you know how things work. I’ll accept your sincerity.”
Seeing the guard stow the gifts away, Su Shifeng resumed his smiling demeanor. “Brother, I actually need a small favor today. I hope you can relay a message to Chairman Zhou for me.”
“You want me to pass on a message?” The security guard’s expression turned stern, clearly reluctant. But after a moment’s thought—having just accepted a gift—if he refused, he might be reported. Returning the gift would be a loss, so relaying a message wasn’t too much.
He stroked his chin, thought for a few seconds, then sneered, “Alright, what do you want me to say?”
“Come closer, brother…” Su Shifeng beckoned him near and whispered a few words.
After listening, the guard shot Su Shifeng an incredulous glance, thought for a moment, and then headed into the company.
“Su Shifeng from Su Bank wants to see me?” In the chairman’s office, Zhou Liran listened to the security guard’s report, his face grave.
“Yes, Chairman Zhou. He says he has something important to discuss with you, related to Su Qingxue, and insists you must meet him.” The guard bent low, grinning like a dog.
“Let him in,” Zhou Liran said solemnly, thinking: Su Shifeng—wasn’t that the name added to the contract Miss Su just submitted? Is he here about the cooperation project with Su Bank?
“Understood, Chairman Zhou. I’ll bring him right away.” The security guard hurriedly agreed and respectfully exited Zhou Liran’s office.
Soon after, Su Shifeng appeared before Zhou Liran, feeling nervous as it was his first time meeting the chairman.
“Chairman Zhou, greetings. I am Su Qingxue’s brother, Su Shifeng, from Su Group.” Su Shifeng introduced himself promptly.
“I’ve heard of you. What brings you here?” Zhou Liran asked coldly.
“Chairman Zhou, it’s like this: the Su Bank project was always managed by my sister, but today, she made a grave error. Knowing full well about your cooperation, she privately misappropriated the project loan for other purposes.
She refuses to admit her mistake. As her brother, I couldn’t persuade her, so I’ve come personally to apologize. Rest assured, the Su family will not breach our contract.
I’m willing to cover the funds she used for personal purposes, so please don’t blame the Su family,” Su Shifeng explained, full of apparent sincerity.
“Oh? This happened?” Zhou Liran listened, his heart full of suspicion. What was Su Shifeng playing at?
Deliberately slandering Miss Su, trying to elevate himself, lying without a hint of shame—utterly shameless!
“As her brother, you’re certainly responsible. I don’t know Miss Su well, but you’ve made quite an impression,” Zhou Liran played along, smiling as he praised him.
Immediately, Su Shifeng felt his hopes rise!
He quickly replied with a smile, “Chairman Zhou, you flatter me. If you’d give me a chance to oversee the project’s next phase, I’ll cherish it and ensure its success, achieving a win-win for both families.
As for my sister, I’ll sternly reprimand her, make her reflect, and ensure she’s not so willful in the future.”
“Alright, since you’ve said so, I’m willing to give you a chance. Make sure you seize it well,” Zhou Liran agreed without hesitation.
The good news stunned Su Shifeng yet again!
Could negotiating with Chairman Zhou really be so easy? It seemed he wasn’t as inaccessible as people said!
“Chairman Zhou, rest assured—I won’t let you down,” Su Shifeng promised earnestly.
“Good, I believe you. There’s one more thing: I originally planned, for this Su-Zhou cooperation, to announce it publicly and host a celebration banquet.
I haven’t sent your sister an invitation yet, but since you’re here, why not take her place? This afternoon, you can represent the Su family and attend the banquet,” Zhou Liran said coldly.
“Is that true?” Su Shifeng was beside himself with excitement!
This was an opportunity for both fame and gain!
He never imagined Chairman Zhou valued the Su family’s partnership with Liran Group so highly. The guests invited would surely be esteemed business magnates.
When he represented the Su family at the banquet, he would make a name for himself and ascend to the peak of his career!
“Of course it’s true. Would I joke with you? You may bring along some business partners to bolster your presence. I’ll invite some distinguished guests as well. Don’t disgrace the Su family,” Zhou Liran reminded him gravely.
Su Shifeng readily agreed, rose to his feet, and took his leave.
As soon as he was gone, all traces of joy vanished from Zhou Liran’s face.
He snorted coldly and said sternly, “A mere junior from the Su family thinks he can perform for me—he ought to know his place.”
He then took out his phone and called Lin Feng, truthfully recounting Su Shifeng’s visit.
“Oh? Didn’t expect Chairman Zhou to lie—what a surprise!” Lin Feng joked, then his expression grew serious. “Since Su Shifeng wants to play games with us, let’s play along.”
“Rest assured, Mr. Lin, I won’t let you down. I’ll send out invitations to you and Miss Su shortly. Please come witness this grand event together,” Zhou Liran instantly grasped Lin Feng’s meaning and extended a respectful invitation.
