Chapter 141: Your Illness Can Be Cured
“That’s wonderful! Xiaoying, now that you’ve found a boyfriend, my heart’s desire is fulfilled.” Before Lin Feng could voice any doubts, Aunt Mei suddenly grasped Zhou Nianying’s hand, her face alight with contentment.
It turned out that she had long regarded Zhou Nianying as her own daughter. Every time she visited, she would inquire about Nianying’s potential marriage prospects, but each time, Nianying’s answers brought her disappointment.
So this time, she decided to tell a kind-hearted lie to comfort Aunt Mei.
Sure enough, this tactic worked remarkably well.
When Lin Feng learned the truth, he didn’t argue but instead cooperated with her to cheer Aunt Mei up.
A sudden cough interrupted the moment. Aunt Mei brought out a handkerchief to cover her mouth, only to see a smear of fresh blood staining the cloth.
Immediately, Zhou Nianying’s expression turned anxious. She quickly supported Aunt Mei and asked, “Aunt Mei, how do you feel? Has your condition worsened recently?”
“Yes, this old ailment has troubled me for many years. I’m afraid I don’t have much time left.” Aunt Mei’s complexion was weak. Trembling, she took back the jade ring she had just retrieved and pressed it into Zhou Nianying’s hand, her voice heavy with meaning. “Xiaoying, this jade ring is a family heirloom. The fact that you found it means you are destined to have it.”
“Today, I give it to you, hoping you will pass it down for me.”
“Aunt Mei, don’t say a word. My... ah, my boyfriend knows some medicine. Maybe he can cure your illness.” Zhou Nianying glanced at Lin Feng, signaling him to help examine Aunt Mei.
Lin Feng nodded earnestly and looked at Aunt Mei. “Aunt Mei, please extend your right hand. Let me check your pulse.”
“It’s no use. I’ve seen many doctors, and they all say there’s no cure. It’s just a matter of fate now.” Aunt Mei shook her head, utterly pessimistic about her condition.
Still, persuaded by Zhou Nianying, she handed her hand over. Lin Feng examined her carefully, brows furrowing deeply as he spoke gravely, “Aunt Mei, your illness has been with you for many years, and multiple symptoms are intertwined. It is indeed complicated.”
“Can it be cured?” Zhou Nianying asked anxiously on Aunt Mei’s behalf.
“Well... it’s not impossible. The only problem is that the proper tools aren’t here. I’ll need a set of silver needles to treat you.” Lin Feng stated frankly.
“Silver needles? I’ll have someone send them immediately.” Zhou Nianying’s eyes sparkled. As long as Aunt Mei could be cured, nothing else mattered.
She promptly called her subordinate to send over a set of silver needles, then reassured Aunt Mei, “Aunt Mei, I’ve already arranged for the needles. Once they arrive, your illness will be cured.”
“Xiaoying, is your boyfriend really able to cure me?” Aunt Mei asked, half in doubt.
“Yes, Aunt Mei. Lin Feng’s medical skills are exceptional. If he says it can be cured, it will be.” Zhou Nianying blinked her beautiful eyes and comforted Aunt Mei once more, easing her worries.
About twenty minutes later, her subordinate rushed back with the silver needles.
Lin Feng took them and looked earnestly at Aunt Mei. “Aunt Mei, when I use the needles, you will feel some pain, but you must not move. You have to endure it. Once the pain passes, your illness will be healed.”
“All right, I can bear it.” Aunt Mei agreed readily.
Then Lin Feng disinfected the needles and, with Zhou Nianying’s help, steadied Aunt Mei as he lifted part of her clothing and carefully inserted the needle into her body.
As soon as the needle pierced her skin, Aunt Mei felt a surge of heat rising within her. A sharp pain radiated from her chest, causing sweat to bead heavily on her forehead.
Soon, her whole body began to sweat and tremble involuntarily, looking as though her condition had worsened.
Worried, Zhou Nianying looked to Lin Feng. “Lin Feng, what’s happening to Aunt Mei? Why isn’t she getting better? She looks worse.”
“Don’t worry. This is a normal reaction after acupuncture. Many of her meridians are blocked. I’m opening them up with the needles. She just needs to endure it a little longer, and she’ll recover.” Lin Feng patiently explained as he withdrew several needles, disinfected them, and inserted them again.
Suddenly, Aunt Mei coughed up a mouthful of fresh blood, her face turning pale to the point she nearly fainted.
Zhou Nianying quickly supported her, her worry deepening.
However, before Zhou Nianying could ask Lin Feng again, she noticed that Aunt Mei’s pallor rapidly returned to a healthy flush. Her eyes gleamed with vitality, and her spirit seemed much stronger.
“Aunt Mei, how do you feel?” Zhou Nianying asked, puzzled.
“I’m well. All the discomfort inside me has vanished. The tightness in my chest is gone, and my stomach no longer hurts. I’m cured.” Aunt Mei’s face lit up with joy. Though she had doubted Lin Feng’s skills before, she now realized he was a miraculous healer and admired his talent deeply.
“Xiaoying, your boyfriend’s medical skills are truly incredible—he’s nothing short of a miracle worker.” Aunt Mei praised him excitedly, then turned to Lin Feng and knelt down, overflowing with gratitude. “Lin Feng, I can’t thank you enough. You are my savior. Please accept my deepest thanks.”
“Aunt Mei, please get up. There’s no need for this.” Lin Feng quickly helped her to her feet, smiling warmly. “As doctors, seeing our patients recover is our greatest joy. No thanks necessary.”
“You are truly a wonderful person. I don’t know how to repay you.” Tears of gratitude streamed down Aunt Mei’s face as she shakily reached for her purse to offer payment, but Lin Feng refused again.
Zhou Nianying also helped persuade her, and after much insistence from both, Aunt Mei reluctantly put away her retirement card.
Suddenly, a sharp female voice rang from outside the nursing home’s gate.
“Hey! Everyone ahead, clear the way! And those old men, move off that empty spot. We’re filming there soon.”
Lin Feng and the others turned to see a dozen people entering, some carrying cameras, others handling lighting, and a few with a red carpet.
Leading them was a woman with a slender figure and an air of nobility, though her appearance relied heavily on thick makeup to conceal her flaws.
She strode in confidently and ordered her men to chase away the elderly who were chatting and playing chess nearby, threatening them to cooperate quietly later.
Frightened by the strong men, the elderly reluctantly stepped aside, whispering among themselves.
Once the equipment was set up, the lead woman put on a haughty expression and sternly addressed a staff member. “Where’s your director? Go get him for me.”
