Chapter 19: I Will Only Work With You
"Wait a moment!"
Su Qingxue rushed in front of Lin Feng as she saw the Su family's experts about to attack, blocking their way and pleading, "Grandmother, this has nothing to do with Lin Feng. It was all my idea. If you must punish someone, punish me. Please let Lin Feng go."
"You still dare to plead for him?" The old matriarch of the Su family paid her no heed, her tone icy. "You brought an outsider to go against the Su family—I haven’t even begun to settle that score with you. And now you're shielding him. It seems the Su family truly means nothing to you. Since you’re so desperate to help him, I will make you watch as I beat him to death before your very eyes."
"Drag her aside and deal with Lin Feng."
"Yes, madam."
A chorus of bodyguards responded in unison.
Su Qingxue was quickly pulled to the side. The faces of everyone present twisted into savage expressions as they charged at Lin Feng.
Panic swept over Su Qingxue's face. She feared Lin Feng wouldn't be able to withstand these opponents.
Lin Feng's expression shifted, his lips curling into a cold sneer. He glanced at the matriarch and said, "You old woman, you can’t tell right from wrong and have no sense of justice. I have no reason to be polite to you."
As soon as his words fell, Lin Feng’s body moved with the speed of a gale. In an instant, he appeared before one of the charging experts, catching the man’s arms off-guard. A surge of internal energy burst forth from Lin Feng’s palms.
A crackling sound rang out as the expert felt a current jolt through his body, leaving him instantly numb.
With a tap of his toe, Lin Feng launched himself into the air, hovered for a few seconds, then delivered a brutal kick, sending the expert flying across the room. The man slid several meters along the floor, smashing through the living room chairs.
The entire room was left in shock.
The other experts, startled at first, quickly recovered and pressed their attack with fresh ferocity. Their fists and palms were ruthless, each one capable of taking on a hundred men alone. As they surged toward Lin Feng, it seemed as if countless waves of powerful energy were bearing down on him.
Throughout Jiangcheng, few could withstand the onslaught of so many experts at once.
Su Shifeng’s lips curled in a smirk. He thought to himself, “You’re finished, kid. This is what happens when you offend me.” Even A Biao couldn’t handle these men—how could this upstart possibly stand a chance?
Yet—
Just as he and Liu Farong and the others were certain Lin Feng was about to be punished, a blaze suddenly flared in Lin Feng’s eyes.
A fiery aura erupted around him, his arms outstretched, and a protective barrier shimmered into existence.
As the experts drew near, their bodies froze, unable to break through the shield.
With a thunderous roar, Lin Feng’s energy exploded outward. The overwhelming wave of fire instantly nullified the experts’ own auras, sending them all hurtling through the air, crashing to the ground with resounding booms.
In less than a minute, Lin Feng had effortlessly dispatched all of the Su family's experts.
The old matriarch stared in utter disbelief as they lay sprawled on the floor, coughing up blood, her face drained of color.
Su Shifeng’s previously triumphant grin stiffened into shock. Never had he imagined that Lin Feng could defeat so many of the Su family's experts single-handedly.
"Heh, so this is the extent of the Su family's so-called experts?" Lin Feng retracted his energy, sneering in contempt.
His gaze shifted to Su Qingxue, whose two bodyguards were on the verge of collapsing in terror. As Lin Feng drew near, they stumbled backward in fear.
"Lin Feng, do you mean to rebel? The Su family is no place for an outsider like you to behave so recklessly!" the old matriarch shouted, regaining her composure but still defiant.
With a flick of his wrist, a beam of light shot into her mouth, silencing her instantly.
"Noisy," Lin Feng said coldly.
Taking advantage of the confusion, he flashed to Su Qingxue’s side and rescued her. The two bodyguards, petrified, simply fell to the floor.
They hadn’t even seen how Lin Feng had moved—he seemed almost inhuman.
"Lin Feng, you—"
"The Su family is no longer safe for you. I’m taking you away," Lin Feng interrupted, seizing her hand and leading her out of the villa.
The Su family members sat there in stunned silence, exchanging bewildered glances.
"Go after them! Chase them down immediately! No matter what, bring them back!" Liu Farong snapped, quickly regaining her senses and shouting orders at the remaining experts.
At that moment, however, the old matriarch waved her hand, coughing violently before finally regaining her voice. In a cold tone, she said, "Enough. Don’t bother chasing them. Even if you catch up, none of you can defeat Lin Feng."
"Mother, Lin Feng has gone too far! He doesn’t respect our family at all. And that wretched girl Qingxue—where did she even find such a monster? She’s ruined our family!" Liu Farong complained furiously.
"No matter what, we’ve retrieved the contract. Let them go," the old matriarch replied sternly. She turned to Su Shifeng. "Shifeng, are you confident you can secure the Liran Group project? If you succeed, it’ll give us some leverage with the Bai family."
"Don’t worry, Grandma—leave it to me. I guarantee there won't be any problems," Su Shifeng replied, elation surging inside him. He hadn’t managed to get rid of Lin Feng, but the most important thing—the contract—was in his hands. As long as he secured the Liran Group project, all the credit would be his.
He’d secure his position as the Su family's heir.
Seeing his confidence, the old matriarch smiled approvingly. "Good. I’m entrusting this contract to you. Don’t disappoint me."
"Rest assured, Grandma. If I fail to secure this project, I will voluntarily relinquish my shares in the Su family," Su Shifeng vowed, then hurried off with the contract to Liran Group.
The old matriarch’s face was filled with satisfaction—her grandson was truly capable.
"Lin Feng, I’m truly sorry for today," Su Qingxue said, sitting in the car, guilt weighing on her after they left the villa. "It was my fault for not thinking things through before bringing you to the Su family. I nearly got you killed by my grandmother."
"It’s all right. I don’t blame you. I never expected the Su family to go so far as to try to kill me. It seems they’re even more guarded against you than I thought," Lin Feng mused.
"Don’t mention it. I was hoping that contract would help me improve my standing in the family, but now there’s no hope. Su Shifeng stole the contract, and once he makes a name for himself, I won’t be able to stay in the Su family any longer."
"At that point, I’ll have no choice but to obediently marry into the Bai family," Su Qingxue said sadly, lowering her head.
She had only wished to be an ordinary girl, free to pursue her own happiness—not a pawn in a wealthy family’s trade, living without dignity.
Just then, Lin Feng reached out and gently brushed her hair aside, smiling. "Don’t worry. Su Shifeng won’t be able to secure that partnership."
"Have you forgotten? Before we left Liran Group, I told Chairman Zhou that the partnership would only be with you—no one else."
