Chapter 57: Danger
Half an hour later, Su Qingxue slowly awakened from unconsciousness.
She looked around at the pitch-black surroundings, finding herself encircled by several burly men. Terror seized her heart.
“Help, somebody help…”
Su Qingxue’s cries were weak, and no one around her paid any heed.
Gradually, a figure approached from the distance. The man limped as he walked, and there was something vaguely familiar about him.
“Su Qingxue, you never expected this, did you? In the end, you still fell into my hands,” he said as he drew closer, his eyes glinting with wicked delight.
“You are…”
His voice stirred a memory, but Su Qingxue couldn’t immediately place him.
He wore a mask, and his gaze roved greedily over her. He licked his lips, leaned in, and inhaled her scent. “As expected of the most beautiful woman in River City. You smell absolutely divine.”
“Tonight, you’re destined to become mine. But before I have you, there’s one more thing I need to do.”
As he spoke, he took out his phone and ordered his men to grab her arms and mess her hair. He snapped several photos and sent them to Lin Feng.
At that moment, Lin Feng was still in the hotel suite, discussing a prescription with Zhou Liran. Suddenly, his phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at the screen, and his face changed dramatically.
“What’s wrong, Mr. Lin? Did something happen?” Zhou Liran noticed the shift in Lin Feng’s expression and asked curiously.
“Qingxue is in trouble.”
Lin Feng’s brief reply immediately made Zhou Liran tense up as well.
He knew how much Su Qingxue meant to Lin Feng. If anything happened to her, Lin Feng would stop at nothing to find her.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Lin. I’ll send my people to help you search. As long as she’s in River City, there’s nowhere she can hide from me,” Zhou Liran promised readily, pulling out his phone to issue orders.
But Lin Feng stopped him. “That won’t be necessary. I know where she is. Someone’s using her against me. We’ll discuss the prescription another time—I have to go.”
“Mr. Lin—”
Before Zhou Liran could say another word, Lin Feng had already vanished.
“Lin Feng, if you want Su Qingxue to live, come alone to the abandoned ironworks in the northern suburbs. If you call the police or bring anyone else, she dies on the spot.” The message’s threat echoed in Lin Feng’s mind as he raced through the streets of River City, moving with lightning speed.
Su Qingxue was the most important friend he had—anyone who dared lay a hand on her was courting death.
Fifteen minutes later, Lin Feng arrived at the gates of the abandoned ironworks.
He stopped and saw that the front gate stood wide open, as if the ambush within had long been prepared.
But none of this could stop Lin Feng. Without hesitation, he strode forward fearlessly.
Bang!
With a single punch, Lin Feng sent a hundred-pound iron drum flying dozens of meters, clearing his path.
He walked into the courtyard, scanning his surroundings. Only one warehouse directly ahead had its doors open, and messy footprints on the ground led inside. He followed them without hesitation.
“Lin Feng, go! Don’t come in!”
As soon as he stepped through the door, Su Qingxue saw him and shouted desperately.
“Qingxue?”
Lin Feng looked over in shock. Su Qingxue was tied to an iron pillar, her body marked with new wounds, her hair in wild disarray—just as in the photos.
“I’m here to save you,” Lin Feng said, his heart aching at her pitiful state. He stepped toward her.
Whoosh!
Suddenly, a sharp blade shot up from beneath the floor!
Lin Feng dodged swiftly. A black-clad assassin leapt up from below, slicing through the air with a flurry of ruthless strikes—all aimed at Lin Feng’s chest.
Lin Feng’s brows drew together in a cold frown. His movements were lightning-fast, evading over a dozen slashes in quick succession. Then, spotting an opening, he struck—his fist landing squarely on the assassin’s chest, sending him flying more than ten meters.
Blood spurted violently from the killer’s mouth as he collapsed, clutching his chest, powerless to rise.
Lin Feng paid him no further mind and advanced. Now, less than ten meters separated him from Su Qingxue.
But with every step he took closer to her, the danger in the air thickened.
He moved forward again, and a flash of silver light streaked through the air overhead. Lin Feng looked up fast—a killer dropped from above, blade aimed at his chest.
Lin Feng leapt back just in time. The blade whistled past, slicing down where his chest had been.
Clang!
The blade struck the ground with force, missing Lin Feng entirely.
Steadying himself, Lin Feng fixed the assassin with a cold stare. The killer’s face was expressionless as he raised the blade, licked its edge, and suddenly, a murderous gleam lit his eyes. He charged at Lin Feng again—swift, relentless.
Blades flashed, each strike faster and more savage than the last. This assassin was far stronger than the previous one, his movements a blur of power and speed.
Boom!
But even so, he fared no better against Lin Feng. Lin Feng’s palm surged with inner energy. As the blade hacked down, Lin Feng caught the weapon barehanded.
Crack!
He snapped the blade in two, then shot forward with blinding speed, driving both knees into the assassin’s forehead and sending him hurtling dozens of meters away.
Crash!
The killer rolled through the debris, tumbling over and over, finally coming to a halt as blood gushed from his mouth.
Clap, clap, clap.
Applause rang out behind Su Qingxue.
The masked man who had sent the message to Lin Feng reappeared, looking Lin Feng up and down with a laugh. “Impressive, Lin Feng. You defeated both of my top fighters in a row.”
“But even so, you won’t leave here alive tonight.”
“Uncle Jiang, I’ll leave this one to you.”
As he finished speaking, another figure emerged from the shadows on the left.
Draped in a black robe, the man’s face was covered in poisonous tumors, his appearance hideous, his body exuding a foul stench that was nauseating to the extreme.
He limped toward Lin Feng. Lin Feng’s brows knit tightly—he instantly recognized the poisonous aura emanating from this man.
The tumors on his face were surely the result of practicing venomous arts.
“Boy, you killed my disciple. Tonight, I’ll use your blood to honor him,” the man said, his voice booming like a bell. As he finished, a cloud of black mist spread from his body. His footwork became bizarre and unpredictable, his figure flickered like a phantom, darting toward Lin Feng.
All Lin Feng saw were flashes of black light in midair—the man’s speed was astonishing!
His skill was unfathomably deep and not to be underestimated.
As a wave of black energy surged toward him, Lin Feng’s feet moved like the wind. He sprang upward, dodging the attack, while channeling his inner force into his palm. Seizing an opening in midair, he struck at the man’s back.
Boom!
A tremendous crash echoed as his palm landed squarely on the man’s back—yet the man showed no reaction at all.
