Chapter 72: What a Coincidence
Back in school, Bai Xiaoqian had always liked Lin Feng, but when Lin Feng found a girlfriend he fancied, she kept her feelings to herself. Now that he had broken up with Qin Meng, didn’t she have another chance?
“Brother Lin Feng, does the duck soup taste good? Why don’t you come and have some every day? I’ll cook it for you,” Bai Xiaoqian said shyly.
“Sure, absolutely. This duck soup is the best thing I’ve ever tasted,” Lin Feng replied, busy eating and drinking, not noticing the look in Bai Xiaoqian’s eyes.
When he finished his meal and got up to pay, Uncle Bai stopped him.
Smiling warmly, Uncle Bai said, “Xiaofeng, you helped me so much today. How could I take your money? Whenever you want duck soup, just come by.”
“Uncle Bai, I’ll come often, but you earn your money through hard work. Please take it,” Lin Feng insisted, handing the money over. Just as he was about to leave, Bai Xiaoqian’s eyes flashed and she stepped forward, saying, “Brother Lin Feng, are you free this afternoon? Could you go shopping with me?”
“Shopping?” Lin Feng pondered for a moment; he had nothing planned for the afternoon, so he casually agreed, “No problem, just contact me later.”
With that, Lin Feng walked out of the restaurant.
Bai Xiaoqian’s heart was racing. This time, she swore she wouldn’t miss her chance again. Lin Feng was the man she liked most in the world—she would marry no one but him!
“Cough, cough, Xiaofeng’s already gone, yet you’re still gazing after him,” Uncle Bai feigned a cough, seeing through his daughter’s feelings. “Xiaofian, Lin Feng really is a good kid. If you like him, go for it. Your mother and I won’t object.”
“Thank you, Dad,” Bai Xiaoqian replied with a radiant smile.
As Lin Feng’s figure disappeared, she suddenly slapped her forehead, realizing she hadn’t asked if Lin Feng had a new girlfriend. If he did, that would be awkward!
“Chairman Wang, our plan failed. Today, we had leverage over the old couple and were about to sign the contract, but out of nowhere came a brat who thrashed my men—I'm no match for him either.”
At that moment, Leopard was sitting in his car, reporting the whole incident to the boss behind the scenes.
On the other end of the line, Chairman Wang’s expression was grim, astonished. “Even you couldn’t beat him? Have you found out anything about this kid?”
“I’ve discovered a bit. I’ll bring it to you right away. This matter will require your personal attention,” Leopard said respectfully.
“Hmph, just a kid—I’m not concerned. Bring what you’ve found to Liran Group and see me there,” Chairman Wang snapped, then hung up.
He was determined to see who dared sabotage the Wang family’s affairs.
Leopard packed up his phone, full of pride, and ordered the driver to head to Liran Group.
Meanwhile, Lin Feng was on the phone with Zhou Liran, chairman of Liran Group. Zhou Liran warmly invited him, “Mr. Lin, I’m sorry to trouble you again.”
“I wonder if you’re free now? I’d like to discuss some matters about pill production with you.”
“Certainly, I’ll come at once,” Lin Feng replied without hesitation. He was planning to talk to Zhou Liran about having a meal together in a few days, so he headed to Liran Group.
Unbeknownst to him, as he arrived at the entrance of Liran Group and stepped out of his car, he saw a middle-aged man in a suit standing at the door, carrying several gifts, as if waiting for someone.
He took a closer look and found the man’s face oddly familiar, as if he’d seen him somewhere before. Thinking it over, he suddenly realized this man looked exactly like Wang Kuan, whose life he had ruined not long ago. It had to be Wang Kuan’s father, Wang Jiansheng!
To think the Wang family still dared come to negotiate with Chairman Zhou. Clearly, they had no idea who they had offended.
Indeed, when Wang Jiansheng arrived, he had repeatedly pleaded with the security guards at the entrance, but Zhou Liran refused to see him. Now, he could only wait in vain at the door, hoping Zhou Liran would come out.
Just as Lin Feng was about to enter Liran Group, a group hurried footsteps sounded behind him, rushing to Wang Jiansheng’s side to report.
Lin Feng turned and saw that the newcomers were Leopard and his men, whom he had just beaten!
Suddenly, Lin Feng understood everything.
So the one bullying Uncle Bai’s family was Wang Jiansheng—what a coincidence!
“Chairman Wang, you must help us get revenge. That kid was outrageous, showing no respect for the Wang family,” Leopard said, full of enthusiasm, completely unaware that Lin Feng was standing right at the entrance.
At this moment, Wang Jiansheng’s anger exploded. Hearing Leopard’s report, he growled, “Just a brat—how capable could he be? Once I finish my business, I’ll personally deal with him.”
“No need. I’m right here. Is there anything you’d like to say to me?” Lin Feng’s voice rang out as he strode forward.
Wang Jiansheng and Leopard turned around at the same time. Leopard’s face was filled with shock, his hand trembling as he pointed at Lin Feng. “Chairman Wang, that’s him, he’s the one who beat us!”
“What? Him?” Wang Jiansheng sized Lin Feng up, then let out a scornful laugh. “You useless bunch—beaten by a penniless kid? I really misjudged you all.”
Turning back, Wang Jiansheng fixed Lin Feng with a cold gaze. “Kid, you’ve got guts, daring to cross the Wang family. Do you know who I am?”
Lin Feng smirked. “Aren’t you Wang Jiansheng, chairman of the nearly bankrupt Wang Group? Your son caused a disaster, Liran Group severed ties, and now you’re here to beg Chairman Zhou for forgiveness, aren’t you?”
His mocking words infuriated Wang Jiansheng, who pointed at Lin Feng, his lips twitching with rage. “Where did you hear such nonsense? The Wang family is doing just fine—how could we go bankrupt?”
He wondered if the Wang family’s troubles had spread across Jiang City—how could even a pauper know so much?
Lin Feng shook his head, smiling lightly, unconcerned. “I didn’t expect Chairman Wang to be so stubborn. Well, stay here and wait, I’m going in.”
“Going? Not so fast!” Wang Jiansheng was not about to let such a humiliation slide.
With a command, he had several bodyguards surround Lin Feng.
He sneered, “Kid, you’ve offended the Wang family—do you really think you can walk away? Today, either you kneel and apologize, or my men will cripple you.”
His bodyguards were all warrior-level experts, each more skilled than Leopard.
Leopard watched the scene, elated, thinking, Let’s see how cocky you are now; this is the price for offending Chairman Wang!
“Mr. Lin, why haven’t you come inside yet?” Suddenly, a respectful voice rang out from within Liran Group.
Everyone turned to see Zhou Liran rushing out from inside.
