Chapter 32: Get Out of the Su Family
What? In an instant, the faces of all the Su family members changed dramatically. Su Shifeng’s wild laughter froze mid-expression, his face filled with disbelief. “Impossible! Lin Feng, you must be lying to me!”
“I poured that glass of wine for you myself—how could you possibly have switched it?”
“Hah, are you trying to scare me? I’m not so easily frightened.”
“Are you really that confident?” Lin Feng remained indifferent, a faint smile on his lips as he continued, “When you opened the window just now, that gust of wind was all the opportunity I needed to switch the glasses.”
“And didn’t you say that, after drinking that wine, the victim wouldn’t last more than five minutes? There’s less than a minute left.”
“In another minute, we’ll see for ourselves who’s been poisoned.”
“Lin Feng, you—” Su Shifeng’s brow furrowed tightly. Seeing Lin Feng’s unruffled demeanor, a wave of unease swept over him. With Lin Feng’s skills, he’d indeed had the opportunity to make the switch. If what he said was true, then the consequences would be—
“Lin Feng, are you telling the truth?” Even the old matriarch could no longer maintain her composure. She suddenly fixed a cold, piercing gaze upon Lin Feng.
He glanced back at her, shrugged with disdain, and replied, “You’ll know soon enough—why bother asking me?”
“You—” she began, but before she could finish, Su Shifeng suddenly clutched his stomach and cried out in agony.
He felt as if worms were gnawing inside his belly; the pain was unbearable, and cold sweat poured from his face. In mere seconds, his features contorted, and he began clawing desperately at his own body. Blood streamed from his nose and eyes, his whole being wracked with torment.
“Feng’er! What’s wrong?” Liu Farong, seeing her son’s distress, rushed from her seat to his side, cradling him as she wept.
“Mother, save me! I’ve been poisoned! Lin Feng really did switch the wine—save me, quickly...” Su Shifeng had prepared no antidote, wanting to leave Lin Feng with no hope of survival.
Now, he had hoisted the stone only to drop it on his own foot.
Liu Farong gazed helplessly at her son’s suffering, tears welling in her eyes. She knew that the poison Su Shifeng had prepared tonight was one that no doctor in River City could cure.
The old matriarch was stunned, her cane clattering to the floor as panic overtook her features.
“Lin Feng, save him! I beg you, save Shifeng!” she implored desperately, seeing black blood begin to trickle from his lips and his mind drifting into confusion.
But Lin Feng only sneered, his tone light. “He brought this upon himself. Who can he blame?”
“He has no more than three minutes left to live. His life is hardly enough to atone for the harm you’ve done to Qingxue.”
“Lin Feng, I’m begging you—please save my son! We’ll never go against you or Qingxue again, I swear it! If you save him, I’ll do anything you ask,” Liu Farong pleaded, crawling to Lin Feng’s feet and grasping his clothes desperately.
But Lin Feng remained unmoved, mocking, “Now you remember that Su Shifeng is your son? Yet when it comes to Qingxue, your daughter, how could you be so heartless?”
“If a mother cannot fulfill her duty, there’s no reason for me to save her son.”
“What? No...!” Liu Farong’s tears streamed down her chin as she faced utter despair, unwilling to watch her son die before her eyes.
After a moment’s thought, Lin Feng’s lips curled into a slight smile. “If you want me to save Su Shifeng, it’s not impossible,” he said.
“But if I do, you must agree to one condition.”
“Anything! Whatever you want, if you’ll just save him!” Liu Farong replied without hesitation.
But Lin Feng ignored her, pointing instead at the old matriarch, his tone icy. “I want her promise, not yours.”
“Very well, Lin Feng. Save him, and I’ll agree to anything,” the old matriarch declared, equally decisive. Her grandson was the one she cherished most; for his sake, she’d sacrifice anything.
A sly smile played on Lin Feng’s lips. He nodded. “It’s settled, then. If I save him, you’ll expel Su Shifeng from the family and strip him forever of any right to inherit the Su family fortune.”
“And you must also agree that everything in the Su family will be inherited by Qingxue.”
“What did you say?” the old matriarch and Liu Farong exclaimed in unison, stunned.
They had never imagined Lin Feng’s terms would be so harsh—he wanted to secure all the Su family’s wealth for Su Qingxue.
In truth, Lin Feng had no desire to go so far, but there was no other way to make them give up completely.
“If you refuse, you’d best prepare Su Shifeng’s shroud. I have other matters to attend to—goodbye,” Lin Feng said, turning decisively as he saw their hesitation.
At that moment, the old matriarch’s eyes flashed with resolve. “Wait! I agree to your terms,” she declared.
“Do you swear it?” Lin Feng paused and turned back, his gaze cold.
“I swear it. Save him, and I’ll make Shifeng renounce his claim to the Su family inheritance and drive him out. From this day forward, Su Qingxue is the sole heir of the Su family,” the old matriarch announced, her eyes tightly shut in reluctant acceptance.
Though Liu Farong could barely accept such an outcome, she had no other choice.
Only then did Lin Feng smile coolly and agree to save him. He walked over to Su Shifeng, took his pulse, and began the diagnosis.
A few minutes later, Lin Feng set his arm down and shook his head in astonishment. “You really are ruthless. You managed to procure the Seven-Colored Poison—the most virulent, the hardest to cure of all toxins.”
“You’re lucky you met me tonight. Otherwise, Su Shifeng would have been doomed.”
Without further ado, Lin Feng began the antidote. His fingers tapped several vital points on Su Shifeng’s body, sealing his main meridians to prevent the poison from spreading.
He turned to Liu Farong. “Bring me scissors and gauze.”
“Right away!” Without hesitation, she fetched the items and handed them to him.
Pinpointing the locus of the poison, Lin Feng made a swift cut. A stream of black blood spurted from within.
As Su Shifeng’s agony deepened, his breathing barely clinging to life, Liu Farong anxiously asked, “Lin Feng, will this really save my son?”
“If you don’t trust me, I’ll stop right now,” Lin Feng replied coldly, silencing her at once.
He waited patiently as the black blood drained and fresh, red blood began to flow. Then, with practiced hands, he pressed a vital point to stop the bleeding, expertly wrapped the wound in gauze, and finally, with a burst of vital energy, unsealed the blocked meridians.
“It’s done. In less than ten minutes, he’ll wake up—the poison is gone.”
