Chapter Six: The Sect of Ten Thousand Swords
The next day, Chen Bo opened his livestream, and as soon as the broadcast began, he disabled the speaking privileges set by the system. Instantly, a flood of people poured into the room.
“I see the streamer! I’ve touched a strand of his leg hair!”
“Generous Leisure tipped the streamer thirty gold coins—three thousand yuan. Did you take down that Chen Long?”
“Big spender, I want to have your babies.”
“Bookish Cutie tipped twenty-five gold coins. Ha! Leisure, you’re also watching the stream!”
“Generous Leisure tipped five gold coins. Little Bookworm, come into uncle’s arms.”
“I’m new here. Came by recommendation from Yaya. What’s this stream about?”
Thus, a group of veteran viewers began explaining things to the newcomers.
“Good morning to all brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, grandpas, grandmas—everyone! This is your favorite streamer, Chen Bo. Remember, it’s Chen Bo, not Morning Wood. Just now, I checked the viewer count, and it’s already over three million. I’m genuinely overwhelmed.
“First of all, thanks to Generous Leisure, Bookish Cutie, Binbin, and all the other friends for your tips. I’m truly grateful. Though a thousand words surge within me, I don’t know how to express them. Well, honestly, I’m here to ask for more tips.
“We have many new friends joining our big family today. Let’s not waste words—perhaps some of you don’t know what’s happened, or why I’m dressed in ancient clothing. Is it for a drama or something else?
“Let me tell the new friends today: I have transmigrated. Yes, I know a bunch of you will spam the chat saying you don’t believe it, but I can’t help that. Time will reveal the truth.
“Yesterday, I was publicly humiliated, and received a very reliable message: my fiancée will be arriving! Hopefully, this time my face won’t end up swollen again. Now, let’s get on with the main event!”
Chen Bo enabled speaking privileges, but only for those whose fan value had reached 1,000—meaning they’d tipped at least a thousand gold coins. The system had already displayed this in the stream; on computer or mobile, a small question mark appeared in the top left corner, explaining the rules. The system was quite competent.
Chen Bo stepped out the door. The steward, Chen Sheng, had been waiting for some time. He said, “Young master, the master, all the elders, Miss Qin, and her fellow disciples from her sect have already arrived at the main hall. Are you truly going?”
“Grandpa Steward, don’t worry. It’ll be fine,” Chen Bo replied.
Chen Sheng said no more, and led Chen Bo to the family hall.
Inside, a middle-aged man sat at the head, his face dark with anger. Beside him, several elders wore fake smiles, constantly prodding him with veiled words.
This middle-aged man was Chen Bo’s father, the current head of the Chen family, Chen Zhenhai. The four elders beside him were the family’s senior elders, who secretly opposed him. Though the Chen family seemed prosperous, its foundations were already beginning to rot.
On the other side sat five people: a young maiden, an old man, and three young men.
The maiden wore azure feathered gauze, her figure delicately refined, her posture graceful as a true lady. She chatted intermittently with the elder beside her, her brows revealing an unhidden pride.
All five wore different garments, yet at their cuffs was embroidered a golden longsword, alongside three golden characters: Ten Thousand Sword Sect.
Chen Bo entered, immediately drawing everyone’s gaze. Whether from error or some other reason, Chen Bo today seemed to lack his usual air of resentment and discontent.
The family head, Chen Zhenhai, forced a smile, his face full of helplessness. “Bo’er, you’re here! Let me introduce you—this young lady is Qin Ruolan, daughter of the Qin family head. Her grandfather and yours were lifelong friends, and you two were betrothed as children!”
He emphasized the words “betrothed as children,” continuing, “Ruolan hasn’t seen you for nearly ten years. Who would have thought that the little girl has grown into such a graceful young lady?”
“The gentlemen beside her are her senior disciples, and that elder is the sixth elder of the Ten Thousand Sword Sect. Come, Bo’er, greet them.”
Chen Bo saluted his father, then looked toward Qin Ruolan’s group, his face expressionless. The atmosphere was tense, until he suddenly smiled and said, “Miss Qin, esteemed senior disciples, honored elder—may I ask, do we know each other?”
It was a simple question, but everyone could hear the sarcasm within. Qin Ruolan, one of the protagonists of the occasion, blushed awkwardly and sat as if on needles.
“We didn’t know each other before, but now we do,” replied the sixth elder of the Ten Thousand Sword Sect, showing his depth and leaving no trace of discomfort.
Before Chen Bo could speak again, the second elder of the Chen family burst out, “Chen Bo, how can you speak to friends of the Ten Thousand Sword Sect in such a tone? Apologize at once!”
“Second Elder, I address you as an elder out of respect. Tell me, what was wrong with my tone just now? If you can point out what’s inappropriate, I’ll kneel and apologize immediately. How’s that?” Chen Bo replied with a cold smile.
“You—you—you show no respect for your elders! You must be punished! Someone, fifty strokes with the rod!”
“Second Elder, my son is mine to discipline. You needn’t interfere!” Chen Zhenhai snorted, his voice thunderous. As the family’s strongest, his cultivation was at the mid-stage of vein-cutting.
Within the Chen family, Chen Zhenhai wielded great power. Even the second elder dared not openly challenge him.
Then the first elder interjected, “Family head, are you covering up for him? Family law does not allow favoritism!”
“Hey, you’ve all said your piece, let me speak! What did I just say? You keep claiming I disrespect my elders, yet I addressed you as elder and you’re still not satisfied. Do you want me to call you ‘Your Majesty’ instead?”
“Silence, wretch!”
“Mute him! Mute him!”
The elders were half frightened by Chen Bo’s words—such a remark could offend the imperial authority. If the emperor heard, not only would the Chen family be doomed, but even thousands of such families would not suffice to pay for the offense.
“So? You accuse me of disrespect. How should I address you, then?” Chen Bo shook his head.
“What a sharp-tongued young master of the Chen family!” sneered one of the Ten Thousand Sword Sect’s youths, his gaze full of contempt.
“Mind your own business! Why are you meddling in the Chen family’s affairs and spouting nonsense?” Chen Bo shot back, not holding back his anger. About to be cuckolded, why bother with courtesy? If words fail, lash out!
