Chapter 117: Bats?!
"Hmph! You bunch of scumbags dare to tease the most handsome man in history like this? Do you really think I don't have a temper? I can tell you clearly: I will mute you! Where is the streamer? Mute these scumbags for me!" Chen Bo said, putting on a comical act.
"Alright, let's stop fooling around. Let me recap the previous plot for everyone! After all, some viewers might not have seen the previous broadcast and don't know what just happened."
"I fell into a pit, and then..."
Chen Bo described the previous scene with plenty of embellishment, making it as exaggerated as possible—after all, there's no tax on bragging.
After showing off to his heart's content, Chen Bo looked ahead. By the dim light in the corridor, he could barely make out what was in front of him.
"I don't know what other dangers are waiting for me ahead, so I need to be prepared. For instance, putting on some protective gear."
While speaking, Chen Bo donned his bracers and chest plate, then drew a long sword from his system inventory and flourished it with a practiced spin.
Hmm, not bad. His pose remained as dashing as ever. He wondered how many men, who were only a tiny bit less handsome than him, would be green with envy.
"Alright, I've got my gear and my weapon on! Time to move out!"
Chen Bo took a dozen cautious steps forward when, suddenly, an indescribable, foul stench assaulted his nostrils, almost making him gag.
"What the hell is that?!"
Chen Bo quickly covered his nose and backed away several steps. Could this be some sort of chemical weapon? His wild imagination wandered toward the worrisome possibility.
"Seeing the streamer's 'what the hell' face, I know exactly what kind of smell he's dealing with. Hilarious, truly delightful."
"666666, I bet a chemical expert must have transmigrated there. The streamer is about to turn into a half-human, half-zombie monster. We're about to witness an otherworldly version of Resident Evil! A massive wave of zombies is coming! Global alert!"
"No, you've got a grammatical error there. It should be 'Continental Alert'! Besides, the Earth Federation already knows about the impending crisis on the Allied Continent and is preparing to launch nuclear missiles as support!"
"You guys are too funny! Forgive me for laughing so shamelessly. I can't stop; it's like I've eaten a box of Stride gum—I just can't stop!"
"What is Stride? Is it some kind of Chinese stimulant? Otherwise, why wouldn't you be able to stop once you've eaten it?"
"To the foreign brother above, Stride isn't a stimulant. To be precise, it's a traditional Chinese medicine! The wisdom of us Chinese people is boundless; those brilliant TCM doctors turned a herbal medicine into chewing gum. You only know its true efficacy once you've eaten it."
"I am speechless at the comment above! Truly terrifying. I concede."
"I, Long Aotian, admit defeat. The person posting below must be my lackey."
"I, Ye Liangchen, also admit defeat."
"Damn it, Long Aotian, you idiot, you're taking advantage of me again! I, Ye Liangchen, am a local here, and I have a hundred ways to make you unable to survive in this town! If you know what's good for you, call me 'Daddy,' and Liangchen will be sure to reward you handsomely!"
"Hey, how come Zhao Ritian hasn't come out to stir trouble today? It feels like the 'Prairie Trio' lacks comedic appeal without him."
"I am Zhao Ritian's brother, Zhao Ridi. I'm here to confirm that Zhao Ritian is currently rolling in the sheets with a gay lover, which is why he hasn't popped up."
"I feel like I've just learned something terrible. Ahhhhh! My eyes!"
"I never expected Brother Ritian to have such tastes. I, Ye Liangchen, am no match for him."
"Sigh, I, Long Aotian, am also no match for him."
Chen Bo took out a bottle of mineral water, tore a strip of cloth from his clothing, soaked it in the water, and used it to cover his nose. It felt much better.
He tied the damp cloth with a string, taking care not to tie it too tightly to avoid oxygen deprivation, which would cause dizziness. In this place, dizziness meant death was not far off.
He tried walking forward a few steps. The pungent, fishy stench was still heavy, but it was bearable; at least it no longer made him want to vomit.
Chen Bo grew up in the countryside, where the communal latrines were often pits of accumulated waste. That smell made this one seem like child's play. He had certainly learned something new today.
"I don't know what kind of monster is ahead to make it smell this bad! My estimation is that it's animal feces! And highly likely bat guano!"
Chen Bo wore a very serious expression, as if he had the words "I am an expert" written on his face.
"As for bats, many people know they are disease carriers! They host countless viruses!"
"The most famous and dangerous to humans are SARS, rabies, Ebola, and the like."
"That is exactly why bats receive so much attention. Labeling them the 'Poison King' is a bit unfair to the cute little bat-kun."
"In fact, almost no wild animals are clean. Aside from viruses and pathogenic bacteria, there are parasites, which are even more harmful and easier to overlook. So, it's not just bats that are toxic. Hahaha, I am truly knowledgeable!"
Chen Bo wanted to let out a loud laugh, but as soon as he opened his mouth, he accidentally inhaled a corner of the cloth, causing him to spit repeatedly.
"I'm going in now. The bats on the Savage Continent are definitely much more formidable than those on Earth. It might get rough for me. After all, bats are social creatures; their numbers will make you cry."
Having said that, Chen Bo strode forward with a flourish.
The area ahead did not show the man-made traces of the previous three obstacles; instead, there were several caves of varying sizes.
It looked like a natural formation, likely the bats' lair! Chen Bo had no choice but to push forward, as there were no other paths. However, a problem arose: with so many caves, which one should he take? Chen Bo was dumbfounded.
But he wasn't without a plan. He had a perfect method!
"Eeny, meeny, miny, moe..." Chen Bo muttered, then suddenly fixed his gaze on a larger cave entrance and nodded with great conviction. "That's right, it's you! If I happen to take the wrong path—bah! How could I, the streamer, take the wrong path? This must be the right one! Yes, that's exactly right!"
With that, Chen Bo marched into the cave.
