Chapter Twenty-Three: Exposed
Listening to the sound, it seemed to be a woman’s voice. Chen Bo, unable to contain his curiosity, quietly poked out half his head, his eyes gleaming mischievously.
Suddenly, his eyes widened, and his thick skin flushed red all at once. In the center of the pond ahead, he saw two young women frolicking in the water.
Their clothes were neatly placed on the bank, and the garments had a distinctive style, likely belonging to a particular sect or family.
Ever since he had taken the Small Rejuvenation Pill, Chen Bo’s eyesight had improved considerably. Though the distance was somewhat far, he could still clearly see the faces of the two young women. Unfortunately, their bodies were submerged in the pond, much to his regret.
But now, with this scene before him, he couldn’t help but feel like a little villain spying on beauties bathing. No, he was just passing by—yes, that’s right!
On the other side of the pond was a thirty-foot-high waterfall, water cascading down in torrents, sending up splashes and roaring with deafening sound. It was precisely because of this that no one noticed his sneaky presence.
For those unfamiliar with the measurement, Chen Bo offered a quick lesson. By twenty-first-century standards, a foot is about thirty-one or thirty-two centimeters, so thirty feet is roughly ten meters high.
“Judging by her face, she’s no less attractive than Qin Ruolan, and she possesses a certain inexplicable charm. In comparison, Qin Ruolan’s aura is far too worldly,” Chen Bo mused as he ogled, nodding appreciatively. “One of them looks underage, probably fourteen or fifteen, about my age, but already has the makings of a peerless beauty.”
“The other is a bit older, perhaps twenty-five or twenty-six, mature yet retaining a maiden’s pure and aloof demeanor. It’s this contradiction that brings out her most beautiful side. Excellent, excellent.”
“But why haven’t I seen them in Flame Town? Normally, beauties like these would be well-known goddesses. Could it be they’re not from Flame Town, but outsiders?”
At this thought, Chen Bo grew solemn. He felt it best to leave; who knew what powerful forces stood behind these beauties? If he was obliterated, it’d be a final farewell to the world.
He certainly didn’t believe he’d be like the protagonist of some harem stallion novel, where every beauty would throw herself at him at first sight. He’d already learned that much when Qin Ruolan had demanded their engagement be broken.
Besides, while his face was rather handsome, it wasn’t so striking that it would win hearts of both men and women. If these beauties were experts, would today be his last?
Caught up in these wild thoughts, Chen Bo was about to leave, but his mind was so distracted he forgot to watch his step and slipped.
“Bang!” With a sound neither loud nor soft, he landed face-first. If he hadn’t closed his mouth in time, he would’ve ended up with a mouthful of dirt and gravel.
“Who’s there?!” A thunderous, feminine shout rang in his ear. Chen Bo cursed inwardly, scrambling to get up and flee.
But he saw that the older woman in the pond had spotted him, and all three faces flushed red. The two women were both angry and embarrassed, while Chen Bo was mortified. Being caught peeping—how could he not be embarrassed? Though he hadn’t intended to watch, it was all a damned setup!
Before Chen Bo could escape, the older woman slapped the water, sending a column soaring dozens of yards high, blocking his view.
When the water fell, the two women were no longer in the pond. They were alr
