Chapter 0083: Racing (2)
At the moment they crested the hill, the Ferrari had already slowed down significantly, and Mu Han jerked the steering wheel, straightening the car’s angle. By now, he was in no position to pay attention to the silver Cayenne behind him.
Meanwhile, Zhang Xiaofan showed no intention of slowing. The thunderous roar of the engine echoed to the heavens. Before he even reached the slope, Zhang Xiaofan stomped hard on the accelerator, twisting the wheel bit by bit. Calculating with precision, he gradually tilted the car’s body, the tires screeching furiously against the ground, smoke billowing in thick clouds.
As he reached the crest, the entire car completed an almost one hundred and thirty-five degree turn. Ordinary corners were ninety degrees, but this curve ahead was forty-five degrees, meaning he needed a one hundred and thirty-five degree maneuver to straighten the car. Turning only once atop the hill was impossible; it had to be anticipated, the timing and angle calculated to perfection.
A fraction of error would mean either flipping the car, smashing into the mountainside, or careening off the cliff.
Song Wenwen’s heart was pounding so fast she thought it might leap out of her chest; she’d even closed her eyes in resignation—if she died, so be it.
It was just as she squeezed her eyes shut that inertia threw her body backward, and she heard the fierce screeching of tires against asphalt.
She snapped her eyes open and realized that, at some point, the car was accelerating again. In the rearview mirror, the sharp curve was rapidly fading from view.
At that moment, Mu Han, shifting gears and readying for another burst of speed, stared in disbelief at the silver Cayenne in his mirror as it drew nearer and then, in less than a second, vanished from his sight entirely.
“Damn!” Mu Han cursed under his breath, shock rippling through him. How had the Cayenne behind him managed that? He’d competed in more than a hundred races, but never had he seen anyone drift through a hairpin like that—certainly not with such precision and speed. He refused to believe anyone could pull it off. Even the world’s top drivers wouldn’t be capable of such a feat. This kind of drifting was nothing short of miraculous.
“So you want to beat me? Not that easy!” Glancing at the straight downhill stretch ahead, Mu Han’s expression hardened. He floored the accelerator, rocketing forward. At the same time, he pressed a button; the rear shell of the Ferrari lifted automatically, revealing two sleek boosters.
He hit another button. Instantly, a deafening roar erupted, and flames seemed to burst from the exhausts of the twin thrusters.
The Ferrari surged forward, hitting two hundred and fifty kilometers per hour in a flash.
Watching the Ferrari rapidly closing in through the rearview mirror, Zhang Xiaofan chuckled and said to Song Wenwen, “Get ready, Miss.”
“Bring it on, my little darling—let’s go wild.” After the heart-pounding excitement of the last maneuver, Song Wenwen was no longer afraid. In all her years of street racing, she had never felt a thrill like this.
As she gazed at Zhang Xiaofan’s confident, slightly wicked face, she thought this little brother of hers was exceptional—irresistibly so.
Without hesitation, she leaned over and kissed Zhang Xiaofan on the cheek.
He grinned, pressed a button, and the Cayenne’s body lowered slightly, the chassis hugging closer to the road—a detail Zhang Xiaofan had noticed earlier. He had to admit, these two Cayennes had been modified to the limit; they suited his tastes perfectly.
At the rear, two winglike spoilers unfolded, transforming the Cayenne into something akin to a sports car, its streamlined silver form gleaming under the Ferrari’s headlights.
Simultaneously, four more exhaust pipes extended, making six in total—three on each side, arranged in two rows.
Zhang Xiaofan smiled again, lightly tapped another button, and all six exhausts erupted in fiery bursts. The Cayenne shot forward like a silver bolt of lightning.
In seconds, the silver Cayenne hit two hundred and eighty kilometers per hour—the very edge of its capabilities.
Like lightning, Song Wenwen felt a rush so intense she could hardly stand it. Two hundred and eighty, plus the boosters—she figured the car must have been pushing three hundred kilometers an hour.
Heavens, she’d never seen a Cayenne worth a million yuan reach such speeds, and this guy had tuned it to this extreme.
Meanwhile, Mu Han, in the Ferrari behind, stared at the silver car ahead, his eyes filled with awe. Someone had turned a Cayenne into this monster.
His Ferrari was already at three hundred, but he wasn’t closing the gap.
Moments ago, the Cayenne was chasing his Ferrari; now he was the one chasing the Cayenne. The intensity of the contest ignited Mu Han’s own passion.
Without hesitation, the Ferrari accelerated further, bursting towards three hundred and fifty—the Ferrari’s top speed.
Within seconds, the Ferrari began to slowly gain on the silver Cayenne ahead.
With the road sloping downhill, both the Cayenne and Ferrari went even faster than their maximums.
Inside both cars, the steering wheels shook violently—a single mistake would mean disaster.
Watching the Ferrari closing in, Zhang Xiaofan only smiled, unhurried, because a curve was approaching. It wasn’t a particularly sharp bend, but at these speeds, slowing down was unavoidable—even for him.
The Ferrari behind also began to brake.
Unlike the Ferrari, Zhang Xiaofan tapped the brakes lightly, subtly adjusting the steering wheel. As he entered the bend, the silver Cayenne completed a perfect ninety-degree turn and then rocketed forward with another stomp on the accelerator.
Mu Han couldn’t match this; his only option was to slow almost to a stop before drifting through the curve.
This corner widened the gap once more between the two cars.
“Beautiful!” Song Wenwen exclaimed. Even though this curve lacked the previous hair-raising excitement, she was still thrilled; she herself couldn’t manage such driving, and neither could Mu Han behind. So-called “racing gods” were nothing compared to Zhang Xiaofan.
After the turn, Mu Han’s gaze was gloomy, but his eyes still burned with the fire of refusal to lose. He shifted gears quickly, floored the accelerator, and with the help of the boosters, the Ferrari was back to three hundred and fifty within five seconds.
He pressed the booster button again; the roar grew even more deafening.
This Ferrari actually had dual-stage boosters!
In a blink, the Ferrari surged forward once more. It was no longer just the steering wheel shaking; the entire car seemed on the verge of takeoff. By now, Mu Han was going wild.
“Interesting… the Ferrari even has dual-stage boosters,” Zhang Xiaofan remarked as he watched the Ferrari rapidly gaining in his rearview mirror—the speed clearly approaching three hundred and eighty kilometers per hour.
The LaFerrari was a supercar to begin with, and with its double boosters, its straight-line speed was simply monstrous.
“Then let’s get even crazier…”
With that thought, Zhang Xiaofan pressed the button a second time.
The six exhausts at the rear trembled, spewing out even fiercer jets of flame. The Cayenne leapt forward, the sudden acceleration throwing Song Wenwen back in her seat once more, her chest heaving with the force.
“Ahhh!” Song Wenwen screamed, then in a fit of wild excitement, slipped her hand into her shirt and pulled off her black bra, waving it in the air in the passenger seat.
“…” Zhang Xiaofan was speechless. Miss, is this really the time to tempt me…?
He only glanced at her out of the corner of his eye before focusing again on the race—at this speed, there was no room for distraction.
Indeed, the dual-stage boosters Lin Siyu had installed had pushed the Cayenne close to three hundred and fifty kilometers per hour.
Zhang Xiaofan knew this was the absolute limit for the car—it couldn’t compete with a Ferrari, after all.
Three hundred and fifty in the Cayenne couldn’t match the Ferrari at the same speed; inevitably, the gap between them began to close once more.
