Chapter 120: It's This Kid
“Definitely noted. Damn it, daring to mess with the Five Cubs of Kyoto! This kid must not want to live anymore. But he really can fight. Wang Shao, why don’t you call Feng Conghu from the Feng family?” one young master suggested.
“I’m on good terms with Feng Conghu, but Feng might not necessarily back me up…” Wang Hao replied helplessly.
The Feng family was a dominant force in the northern district, boasting many experts. Although Feng Conghu was the family’s illegitimate son, his skills were outstanding, and his status within the family was decent.
Although these young masters were also privileged, they were nothing compared to Feng Conghu.
“Are you stupid? Just call and say someone spoke ill of Young Master Feng, you stepped in to defend him but got beaten up. That way, Feng Young Master will have to back you up,” another young master said, eyes gleaming with a crafty idea.
“That’s a good plan. Damn it, I’ll call right now. You guys follow and keep an eye on that kid,” Wang Hao said.
“Alright, I’ll tail him. The entrance here is tightly blocked; that kid won’t get far. Keep the phone line open,” the mastermind jumped into his Ferrari immediately.
Wang Hao, enduring the pain, dialed a number.
…
Zhang Xiaofan looked at the traffic—he had to admit, this road was a gamble. They hadn’t covered much ground in half an hour, and his stomach was growling like a crocodile. After driving a few kilometers, they finally spotted a small restaurant—just a street-side stall, but it was Zhang Xiaofan’s favorite beef offal eatery.
He parked in front of the stall, and the red Mercedes behind him also stopped.
But when he glanced into the distance, Zhang Xiaofan’s eyes narrowed slightly. A Ferrari was also tailing him… It was obvious this car was deliberately following him.
Zhang Xiaofan smiled faintly. Looks like these young masters still want revenge…
He had just arrived in Kyoto and truly wanted to keep a low profile, but it seemed that was impossible now.
“Are you a tag-along?” Zhang Xiaofan asked coolly as Xia Shihan approached.
“Are you the tag-along? Is this your road?” Xia Shihan retorted angrily. This guy was really annoying, calling her a tag-along. Did he think she wanted to follow him?
“Fine, I’m going to eat. Don’t follow me,” Zhang Xiaofan said, then walked into the beef offal shop.
“Boss, one bowl of beef offal noodles and one bowl of five-spice beef, please,” Zhang Xiaofan called out to the busy owner.
“Sure, come on in,” the owner greeted warmly.
“Boss, one bowl of beef offal noodles for me too,” Xia Shihan called out, then followed inside.
“I say, beauty, you’re not planning to sponge off me, are you? How come when I eat, you eat too?” Zhang Xiaofan teased as Xia Shihan followed him.
“I’m hungry too. What, only you are allowed to eat?” Xia Shihan shot back, clearly annoyed.
“Alright, alright…” Zhang Xiaofan found a seat.
Xia Shihan looked around and saw only Zhang Xiaofan’s table was free, so she sat opposite him.
“What brings you to Kyoto?” Xia Shihan asked, calming down a bit.
“What brings me here? Why should I tell you?” Zhang Xiaofan replied.
“Tch, such a stingy man,” Xia Shihan rolled her eyes.
“Tell me, why are you following me? Don’t be petty. If you fancy me, just say so. You’re not bad-looking; I might consider it,” Zhang Xiaofan joked.
Xia Shihan almost exploded with anger. How could this guy be so narcissistic? And to think she was beautiful, yet he said she was only ‘not bad-looking’?
Hmph, truly lacking taste.
“Fine, I’ll be clear. You don’t seem short of money and don’t want to be a bodyguard. How about being my driver?” Xia Shihan proposed, blinking her big eyes as if it made perfect sense.
Zhang Xiaofan was speechless. A driver? Might as well be a bodyguard…
“Well, you’ve got to tell me your name and what your family does. If you’re some female bully, I’m stepping onto a sinking ship,” Zhang Xiaofan said, no longer in the mood to tease.
“You… you are…” Xia Shihan was rendered speechless. How dare he call her a female bully when she was so gentle and kind?
“Are you stuttering? Why do you speak so haltingly?” Zhang Xiaofan asked with a serious face.
Xia Shihan was about to faint from frustration. This guy was truly unbearable!
“Here’s your noodles…” At that moment, the owner brought two bowls to the table.
Zhang Xiaofan picked up his chopsticks and poured a generous amount of chili sauce over the beef offal—this was the best way to enjoy it. Then he took big mouthfuls.
“You’re like a starving ghost, eating without manners. If you follow me, you can’t be like this, got it?” Xia Shihan said seriously.
Zhang Xiaofan nearly spat out his noodles. When did I agree to that?
This woman was truly scary when she got serious…
He thought his own thick skin was unmatched, but Xia Shihan was a worthy rival.
Xia Shihan ate her noodles with no elegance whatsoever, but Zhang Xiaofan couldn’t care less. The five-spice beef arrived, and he devoured it swiftly. He had to admit, the five-spice beef here was authentic.
“Wow… save some for me!” Xia Shihan said as Zhang Xiaofan’s bowl emptied quickly, snatching two pieces into her own bowl.
She savored every bite, having not tasted Kyoto’s beef offal noodles and five-spice beef in years.
“Miss, I ordered this, you know? This is robbery,” Zhang Xiaofan grumbled.
“Tch, stingy. It’s just two pieces of beef. Chill out. If you follow me, I’ll treat you to a feast someday,” Xia Shihan said, seemingly immune to his irritation.
“I’m making it clear—I never agreed to that,” Zhang Xiaofan said, taking a sip of soup and burping contentedly.
“Hmph, look at you showing off. Do you know how many people in Kyoto want to be my follower?” Xia Shihan said.
“Then go find them. I’m not interested,” Zhang Xiaofan replied, standing up.
“Boss, the bill,” Zhang Xiaofan called to the owner who had just entered.
“You two young spouses owe fifty-three. Just give me fifty,” the owner said with a warm smile.
Xia Shihan spat out the mouthful of soup she had just taken…
Zhang Xiaofan smiled, “Boss, you have a way with words. No need to look for change.”
He handed over a hundred yuan bill, then grabbed some tissues to wipe the grease from his mouth.
“Wait for me!” Xia Shihan scrambled after him, tissues in hand.
“Hey, beauty, are you planning to just follow me like this? Aren’t you afraid I’ll take advantage of you?” Zhang Xiaofan’s eyes roamed shamelessly.
“When I decide on something, I never give up. So, either you agree, or I’ll pester you to death,” Xia Shihan said, wiping her mouth with a tissue.
Zhang Xiaofan thought for a moment. He hadn’t settled down in Kyoto yet and had no clear purpose. The Yin-Yang Fish Stone would take time to find and couldn’t be rushed. Agreeing to this beauty’s proposal wouldn’t hurt.
With her company, life wouldn’t be boring.
“Food and lodging included? How much’s the daily wage?” Zhang Xiaofan asked quietly.
Xia Shihan’s face lit up with a triumphant smile. Looks like he’s finally won over.
“That depends on whether you’re a bodyguard or a driver,” she said proudly.
“A bodyguard and driver combo?” Zhang Xiaofan asked.
“In that case, food and lodging are included,” Xia Shihan said. “As for salary, five hundred a day. How about that?”
Zhang Xiaofan was speechless. Five hundred a day? That’s my worth?
Just then, the Ferrari from before drove up, followed by a Mercedes. Soon, four more Ferraris arrived.
Wang Hao stepped out of the car and respectfully spoke to someone inside the Mercedes.
The door opened, revealing a man about 1.8 meters tall, slightly thin but radiating a fierce aura.
Wang Hao led the way over and pointed at Zhang Xiaofan. “Brother Feng, this is the kid.”
Zhang Xiaofan smiled. So they brought reinforcements…
These little brats still made me too soft-hearted. If I’d known, I’d have taken them out already…
But it wasn’t too late now, just a bit of wasted time.
