Chapter 0041: I Have a Temper Too The clouds gathered thickly in the sky, heavy and foreboding.
But right now, she was even angrier—this bodyguard was far too arrogant. Playing games in the office was one thing, but downloading those filthy movies too? And to top it off, he even dared to hit her?
“Just wait, you’ll be packing your things and leaving soon.” Lin Sixue glared fiercely at Zhang Xiaofan. She was determined to get rid of this guy.
“Sure, go ahead and have President Lin fire me, but I don't think you can manage that…” Zhang Xiaofan replied with a grin, clearly mistaking this beauty for just another person who thought he was an ordinary bodyguard.
“Sixue, what are you doing here?” At that moment, Lin Siyu’s voice came from the doorway. She looked inside, her face instantly darkening. “Zhang Xiaofan, what are you doing?!”
“Big Sis, you have to kick this bastard, this lecher, this shameless scoundrel out for me!” Lin Sixue roared, humiliated beyond belief to have been struck by a mere bodyguard.
“Well, you told me to come to this office, and this girl came in swinging. I was just defending myself,” Zhang Xiaofan said helplessly. On closer inspection, these two sisters really did look quite alike.
“He was playing games in my office! And… and downloading those disgusting things!” Lin Sixue exclaimed.
“Hey, hey, that wasn’t me downloading it. It was already on there. If you like watching that stuff, don’t try to pin it on me.”
“President Lin, the IT department brought the wrong computer for Vice President Lin’s repair yesterday,” said a few people who entered at that moment, dressed like the company’s technical engineers.
It was then the three finally understood what had happened.
“What is this? Hurry up and change the computers…” Lin Siyu said, exasperated.
“See? Why would I watch that kind of movie…” Zhang Xiaofan laughed, staring at Lin Sixue’s beautiful face. “She’s really pretty, but with a temper like a tigress, I doubt anyone wants her.”
“You…” Lin Sixue was so furious she bared her teeth, wishing she could bite Zhang Xiaofan to death. But her hands were tightly restrained, and no matter how hard she tried, her legs couldn’t reach him.
“All right, enough. Let’s go eat,” Lin Siyu said, her head throbbing. Zhang Xiaofan was a handful, and so was her cousin… If these two kept fighting, the whole company would be in chaos…
“Xiaofan, let go.” Seeing that neither of them would back down, Lin Siyu stepped in.
“I’ll let go, as long as she doesn’t try any more underhanded tricks…” Zhang Xiaofan said, pretending to be wary of Lin Sixue.
Lin Siyu was speechless—after the way he’d handled things this morning, was he really afraid of a delicate woman?
Zhang Xiaofan finally let go, only for Lin Sixue to lunge at him again…
“Hey, hey, hey… If you keep this up, I won’t be so polite!” Zhang Xiaofan threatened.
But even as he spoke, he dodged behind Lin Siyu. No matter how hard Lin Sixue chased, she couldn’t even touch the hem of his clothes.
“Are you even a man?!” Lin Sixue panted, her chest heaving, creating a captivating scene.
“Those are fighting words. Why don’t you try me tonight? I promise you’ll be satisfied,” Zhang Xiaofan said with a grin.
“Ahhh! You’re driving me mad! Cousin, you must make him leave!” Lin Sixue screamed.
At that moment, pain twisted Lin Sixue’s face. She crouched down in agony, cold sweat beading on her forehead.
“Sixue… The doctor said you must not get too worked up… Why won’t you listen?” Lin Siyu hurried to her side.
“Congenital heart disease…” Zhang Xiaofan realized immediately, noticing the signs. Even if she was rushed to the hospital, her life would still be at risk.
“Close the door. I’ll help her onto the couch.”
All traces of laughter vanished from Zhang Xiaofan’s face. He became serious, lifting Lin Sixue gently—one arm supporting her legs, the other at her waist. Cradling the suffering beauty, he prepared to save her.
Lin Siyu knew of Zhang Xiaofan’s medical skills and, after a brief hesitation, quickly closed the door.
“Take off her clothes,” Zhang Xiaofan said, pulling out a set of silver needles and turning to Lin Siyu.
“Is that really necessary?” Lin Siyu asked, unsure if this was just another trick from this pervert.
“There’s no time for this. Do you want her to live, or are you worried about her modesty?” Zhang Xiaofan said gravely.
“Cousin… don’t…” Lin Sixue pleaded through her pain.
Lin Siyu shook her head. “He cured Grandpa’s illness too. Maybe he can treat your condition as well. He’s a doctor—don’t overthink it.” With that, she began unbuttoning Lin Sixue’s blouse. The pink bra underneath was instantly revealed; with the blouse removed and the bra unclasped, her full curves were freed at last.
Sis, the bra really wasn’t necessary… Isn’t this just distracting me? Oh well… if that’s how it goes…
Calming his mind, Zhang Xiaofan’s hands moved with the precision of a master, his legendary acupuncture skills returning as he placed needles accurately at the key points around Lin Sixue’s heart. With just a few needles, her pain was visibly eased.
“You’d best not move. If your breath is disrupted, no one will be able to save you,” Zhang Xiaofan warned sternly, as Lin Sixue seemed about to struggle. He inserted a few more needles.
Immediately, Lin Sixue felt a soothing warmth spread through her body, the tightness easing, and her heartbeat and breathing slowly steadied.
“It’s all right for now. Dress her again,” Zhang Xiaofan said.
Ten minutes later, he withdrew the needles. “This type of congenital heart disease is extremely rare. To cure it completely will be quite difficult.”
“Does that mean it’s possible? She’s seen many famous doctors over the years, but none could help,” Lin Siyu said, her voice trembling with hope.
“How could those so-called famous doctors compare to me? Even if they could cure it, they wouldn’t dare—the risk is too high. Right now, the success rate for surgery is less than ten percent,” Zhang Xiaofan replied.
“Hmph, you’re just bragging,” Lin Sixue said as she finished dressing, shooting Zhang Xiaofan a glare. Moments before, she had felt the shadow of death pass over her. If not for Zhang Xiaofan, she knew she’d be dead by now. Still, she refused to show him any gratitude.
In truth, she was simply too proud—a classic spoiled heiress.
“In any case, I don’t have the ability to save you,” Zhang Xiaofan said, exasperated. Why should he even want to save her? So what if she’s beautiful—does he have no pride?
With that, he turned and walked out, showing no mercy. If not for Lin Siyu, he wouldn’t have lifted a finger.
“Sixue… his medical skills are extraordinary… and your temper…” Lin Siyu admonished, then hurried after Zhang Xiaofan. “Xiaofan, she’s always been like this. Please don’t hold it against her. Could you save her? The doctors said she has at most two years left…”
“It has nothing to do with me. I won’t save her.” Zhang Xiaofan refused flatly.
“How can a grown man be so petty with a woman…” Lin Siyu muttered.
“Enough. My job is to protect your safety. Everything else is none of my concern.”
“Hmph, if my cousin doesn’t ask, then let it be…” Lin Siyu felt a headache coming on. Oh, my dear cousin, can you please just say less?
“You see that attitude?” Zhang Xiaofan said.
“So what if I have an attitude? Who do you think you are? Just because you stuck a few needles in me, you think you’re all that?” Lin Sixue retorted, defiantly thrusting out her chest.
“All right, all right… You win…” Zhang Xiaofan couldn’t be bothered to argue further. He turned to Lin Siyu. “I’m hungry. Shall we go eat?”
Lin Siyu thought for a moment, then decided to wait for another chance to talk to Zhang Xiaofan. She said, “There’s an Italian restaurant next to the company. Let’s go there.”
“Big Sis, is this guy really your bodyguard or your boyfriend? You’re even taking him to dinner?” Lin Sixue said. “I’m coming too, just to make sure he doesn’t try anything.”
“Don’t talk nonsense. He really is my bodyguard—Grandpa personally requested him from the army,” Lin Siyu explained quickly. “But his background is special—he’s not like other bodyguards.”
“So he’s really good at fighting?” Lin Sixue asked.
Zhang Xiaofan felt a twinge of unease inside. Was she planning something now?
“Hey, Zhang Xiaofan, right? If you do me a favor, I’ll acknowledge you from now on. And if you want to date my cousin, I’ll even help you.” Lin Sixue sidled up to Zhang Xiaofan, her attitude completely changed.
“No.” Zhang Xiaofan refused without a moment’s thought.
Lin Siyu, meanwhile, could hardly believe her ears. Was this still her cousin?
“Handsome, don’t be so stingy. Do me this favor and I’ll treat you like a brother—I’ll do anything for you!” Lin Sixue clung to his sleeve.
“Not interested.”
“I’ll give you ten million!”
“Not worth my time.”
“You…” Lin Sixue was speechless. Why was this guy so hard to persuade? Ten million was her entire savings.
“What would it take for you to agree?”
“Simple. Be my lover—the kind who comes whenever I call. How about it?” Zhang Xiaofan replied, purely out of spite.
“You… keep dreaming!”
“Then there’s nothing more to say. I’m going to have dinner with President Lin.” Zhang Xiaofan said.
“Wait! Can’t we compromise? Help me out, and I’ll agree to be your girlfriend—is that good enough?” Lin Sixue hesitated, then gritted her teeth.
“Are you trying to trick me? Let me tell you, I’m not that easy to fool,” Zhang Xiaofan stopped and looked back at her.
“I, Lin Sixue, never go back on my word!” Lin Sixue clenched her fist, thinking to herself, I’ll just be his girlfriend for a day and then dump him—it won’t count as breaking my promise.
“Fine. What do you want me to do?” Zhang Xiaofan asked.
Though Lin Sixue was a bit arrogant, she certainly had her charms. Teasing her from time to time wouldn’t make the bodyguard life so dull.
“Easy. Pretend to be my boyfriend and come act with me,” Lin Sixue said.
Lin Siyu could only shake her head at her cousin’s antics—she could think of anything, it seemed…
And as for Zhang Xiaofan, just moments ago he seemed so upright, but the instant her cousin promised to be his girlfriend, he changed entirely. Truly a hopeless flirt…
Still, if this helped ease the tension, perhaps it could lead to Zhang Xiaofan curing Lin Sixue’s illness. She decided not to interfere any further…
