“Mr. Lin has just broken one of the records in our Silver Trial Arena, so as the person in charge, I felt it only proper to come and see which distinguished young talent achieved this feat.” Although he didn’t know Lin Han’s background, anyone who received an invitation here was certainly someone of ability, so he wasn’t concerned about Lin Han’s origins.

What’s more, a support class and a Card Master, managing to clear the entire Ancient Battlefield at that speed—it was nothing short of miraculous.

The supervisor observed Wang Qiang carefully, recalling the details from the registration form he’d seen earlier. A level-five Card Master, not even having undergone a second promotion—how could someone like that be the core of the team?

Though Lin Han was only a support, a level-ten, second-promotion Priest and a level-five Card Master together had set this record. If the Card Master hadn’t performed something extraordinary, then the answer must lie with the support class.

He’d never encountered a second-promotion Priest in his life.

Wang Qiang shivered. The supervisor’s gaze made him distinctly uneasy, as if his skin crawled under the scrutiny.

“I see,” Lin Han replied with gentlemanly composure, understanding the reason for the visit. “The record was just a matter of chance, hardly anything to boast about.”

“But, if the arena happens to have any rewards prepared, then perhaps there’s room for a little exchange.”

Unwilling to let any benefit slip by without effort, Lin Han finally voiced this request.

The supervisor was momentarily taken aback, then quickly smiled and said, “Mr. Lin, please wait just a moment. I’ll fetch some gifts for you right away.”

“To have young talents like you in our Huiyue City is something we should encourage all the more.”

With that, he hurried back to his office, returning with several gift boxes which he presented to Lin Han. “These are all specialty products I brought back from other regions. Since I’ve had the honor of meeting you today, I’d like you to have them all.”

Wang Qiang pointed to himself and said, “Brother Tian, Lin Han and I are friends, and we cleared the dungeon together. You can’t give everything to him and leave me out, can you?”

At Wang Qiang’s words, the supervisor felt as if a heavy stone had dropped on his heart—a sharp pang of distress.

He’d gone to great lengths to acquire these specialties, originally intending to take them home and share them with his wife and son. Now that some had already gone to Lin Han, he was determined not to part with the rest.

In his eyes, Wang Qiang was just a companion, hardly worth noticing. There were plenty of people with similar levels and abilities.

“Mr. Wang, please wait a moment as well.” Swallowing his pain, the supervisor fetched a box of tea from the back room and said with a smile, “The specialty goods are all gone, but here’s some tea. Please accept it.”

Wang Qiang, unfazed by the meager offering, was satisfied as long as he got something. “You’re much too kind, Brother Tian.”

The supervisor wiped away the sweat from his brow, then took an invitation ticket from behind his clothes and handed it to Lin Han. “Mr. Lin, with this ticket, you’re welcome at our training grounds any time.”

“We hope you’ll help us set a few more records.”

Lin Han gladly accepted the invitation. Unlike the last time, when Manager Liu had given him one, this time it felt entirely different.

Having defeated the Minotaur and collected scattered experience throughout the ancient ruins, he’d now reached level fifteen. Though he still had a way to go before level twenty, access to the Silver Trial Arena would make things much easier.

At the very least, since he couldn’t leave the city for a while, except for the forthcoming entrance exams, he would have plenty of time.

“Don’t worry, Manager Liu,” Wang Qiang boasted with a laugh. “With my brother Lin Han taking the lead, breaking records will be child’s play!”

“Though, Brother Tian, you might want to stock up on a few more gifts—these local specialties may not be enough next time.”

After a few more light-hearted exchanges, Lin Han and Wang Qiang left the trial grounds together.

The supervisor, watching them leave, spoke in a calm tone: “Find out where Lin Han’s entry ticket came from. If there’s a ticket, there must be a source.”

“As soon as we know who issued it, Lin Han’s true identity will be revealed.”

Despite their conversation, Lin Han’s Mandarin had been utterly flawless, revealing not a hint of a slip or suspicion. After all that talk, the supervisor still knew nothing about him—except that he’d broken a record in this dungeon.

At that moment, a boisterous group emerged from another exit of the ancient ruins.

At their head, Gao Chong strutted forward arrogantly. “Looks like that loser Lin Han isn’t back yet. We should pop the champagne—breaking the Ancient Ruins record calls for a celebration!”

Gao Chong sprawled onto a nearby sofa and turned to his companion. “How long do you think those two can hold out?”

The sparring team’s captain considered it seriously. “Five minutes, at most.”

Gao Chong burst into laughter, thrilled at the thought of Lin Han’s likely embarrassment. He could hardly wait to see Lin Han fleeing in disgrace. That once-proud figure was finally destined to taste defeat.

“Hey, how long has Lin Han been inside?” Gao Chong called out to the receptionist.

Though his tone was anything but polite, the receptionist replied with a perfect smile, “I’m sorry, Mr. Lin left before you did.”

“What?!”

Gao Chong was crestfallen—he’d been looking forward to humiliating Lin Han, only to discover that Lin Han had already left.

“Oh right, boss, what was your classmate’s name again?”

“Lin Han. Why do you ask?”

The captain pointed to the leaderboard showing the fastest clear times for the ancient ruins. “First place is Lin Han and Wang Qiang. Is that your classmate, or just someone with the same name?”

Gao Chong’s face twisted as he stared at the display. If it had only been Lin Han, perhaps it could be a coincidence, but Wang Qiang’s name was there too—no mistake.

Their own freshly set record had been relegated to second place.

Lin Han had beaten them yet again!

Gao Chong rushed to the front desk, slamming his fists down. “Is this data even accurate? Lin Han is just a support, and Wang Qiang is only a Card Master! How could they possibly break the record?”
