Chapter 13: Frenzied Collection of Skill Books!
He took the black card, numbered 086. Lin Han carefully put it away; this transaction could be considered a perfect conclusion. Both the price and the attitude satisfied him.
“Mr. Lin, may I escort you out?” Manager Liu spoke politely, eager to maintain relations with such a mysterious and distinguished client.
Lin Han replied, “No rush. I’d like to purchase a few more things.”
“Oh?” Manager Liu’s eyes lit up. He quickly said, “What would you like to buy, Mr. Lin? I can assist in the selection.”
“Skill books and magic scrolls.”
Lin Han’s purpose was clear. At present, only skill books could offer him tangible benefits, and the fastest way to acquire them was through this trading market. Magic scrolls, which contained spells that could be released at any time, were equally convenient.
“Please wait a moment, Mr. Lin.” As soon as he spoke, Manager Liu left the room and promptly returned with a book in hand.
“Mr. Lin, all our available skill books and magic scrolls are listed here. Please let me know which ones interest you.”
Lin Han took the catalogue and began to browse. Most of the skill books here were of high grade or below, perfectly fitting his requirements. Purchasing anything more advanced would merely be a waste of money.
“Do you have backups of this catalogue?” Lin Han asked.
Manager Liu was momentarily puzzled by his question, but answered, “We have plenty.”
“Good.” With the answer, Lin Han began tearing the catalogue apart, page by page. Manager Liu watched in confusion but tolerated it—after all, Lin Han was a valued client.
Soon, the catalogue was reduced to a pile of torn pages. Lin Han handed the thick stack to Manager Liu and said, “I want everything I tore out.”
...
“Please wait, Mr. Lin. I’ll have someone fetch them right away,” Manager Liu said, dazed but quick to react.
He picked up the phone, photographed the catalogue, and posted in the staff group:
“Drop all current tasks. Gather every skill book and magic scroll listed here. I need them immediately.”
Moments later, a man pushed a small cart into the room and respectfully reported, “Manager, these are all the magic scrolls you requested.”
“Are you sure nothing was missed?”
“Absolutely not!”
Manager Liu waved him off, indicating he could leave.
“Would you like to check them, Mr. Lin?”
Lin Han waved his hand dismissively, showing there was no need. In a market of this caliber, such precautions were unnecessary.
“Very well. The total value of these skill books is twelve million. But since you’re one of our top clients, we’ll charge you just ten million.”
“Fine.” Lin Han pulled out the black card Manager Liu had just given him, and the payment was quickly processed.
After storing the magic scrolls, Lin Han prepared to leave, and Manager Liu hurried after him.
Passing through the outer halls, Lin Han heard a commotion from several rooms and even the main hall. Voices were raised in agitation.
“You just said you still had magic scrolls in stock, but now you tell me they’re gone?”
“Is your trading market getting too arrogant lately? Is this how you treat your clients?”
“I’ve given you more than enough face. Do you think you’re the only place I can buy from?”
Listening to the clamorous complaints, Lin Han understood the situation. He had bought out all the skill books, leaving nothing for the others.
Customer service staff tried to placate the crowd with forced smiles, saying, “Our apologies, valued clients. This situation was unforeseen and due to our oversight. Please don’t take offense.”
“Offense? Do you think a simple apology makes up for wasted time?”
Even as the staff lowered themselves to the utmost humility, the clients were unmoved.
“Quiet!” Manager Liu suddenly shouted, standing beside Lin Han.
Hearing his voice, the staff looked to him as if he were their savior.
“And who are you? Is this how your market talks to its clients?” The crowd was relentless, seeing the fault as clearly belonging to the trading market, and they were not intimidated.
“Our staff have explained everything. Someone acted quickly and bought everything; when there’s no stock, there’s no stock. If you continue to make a fuss, it won’t change anything.”
As Manager Liu spoke, a subtle sense of authority emanated from him. “I’ve made myself clear. If anyone tries to cause trouble here, don’t blame me for being less than courteous.”
“Business thrives on harmony. If you insist on making a scene, be sure you’re ready to deal with me.”
“A fourth-tier Appraisal Master?!”
The crowd recognized Manager Liu’s strength. Though an Appraisal Master by profession, a fourth-tier expert was not one to be trifled with.
This was not just a difference in occupation—it was a difference in true power.
The troublemakers fell silent, and Manager Liu turned to Lin Han with a genial smile. “Don’t mind them, Mr. Lin. There are always people causing a stir in places like this. Sometimes a little threat is necessary.”
Lin Han paid it no mind.
The two gradually walked out of the trading market.
“This is as far as I’ll escort you, Mr. Lin. If you ever wish to buy or sell anything, please contact me. Our prices are the fairest in the country.”
“Here’s your black card.”
Lin Han took the black card, exchanged farewells with Manager Liu, and left the trading market.
...
“Boss, I followed Lin Han to the trading market. I’m not sure what he bought, but Manager Liu personally escorted him out in the end.”
“Moreover, Manager Liu was quite courteous to Lin Han, and most importantly, he handed him a black card.”
“That black card is similar to the one our president owns. Clearly, Lin Han is extremely wealthy.”
Du San gave a detailed report of everything he observed while tailing Lin Han.
The man before him was none other than the bald-headed figure who had intercepted Lin Han in the job change hall.
After Lin Han left, the bald man had assigned Du San to follow him. Du San’s profession was Rogue—a profession known for its stealth, making him well-suited for tracking.
“Are you sure?” the bald man asked again.
Du San’s gaze was unwavering. “Absolutely. There’s not a shred of falsehood. I suspect Lin Han’s identity is anything but simple. Just look at how Manager Liu treated him.”
