Chapter 136: This is the Gutter-Run Drift
Wang Wenbin led the way in his Lamborghini, with Chen Yu’s Bugatti and Su Qianqian’s LaFerrari trailing behind until they reached the mountaintop parking lot.
The lot was usually deserted, occupied by only a few sports cars. In the center sat a Nissan GTR wrapped in a garish, chrome-plated silver-purple film, bright enough to blind any observer.
Chen Yu pointed at it and said to Su Qianqian, "Mistress, that’s my GTR. It’s been heavily modified to over a thousand horsepower..."
"Excuse me, it’s *my* GTR now!" A young man emerged from behind the GTR, wearing a mocking grin. "Chen Yu, I heard you brought your master. Where is he?"
Chen Yu gestured with his thumb toward Lu Ye in the passenger seat of the LaFerrari. "That is my master, Lu Ye!"
He Chao squinted, scrutinizing the blue-and-white porcelain-themed LaFerrari. At first, he assumed it was a high-quality imitation, but a closer look revealed it was the genuine article.
He Chao walked over, beaming, and tapped on the car window. "The loser hands over their car to the winner. You know the rules, right?"
"I do. If you lose, you give that GTR back to Chen Yu," Su Qianqian replied.
As she rolled down the window, He Chao froze. "What the hell? It’s you, 'Thirteenth Lady'?"
Su Qianqian was momentarily confused. "Who are you?"
"I’m He Chao, captain of the Blue Star Racing Team. I raced against you in Shangjing years ago!"
Su Qianqian still couldn't place him. "No memory of that. In any case, I’m here to settle the score for my husband’s student. I suppose you’re my opponent? Let’s get started; I need to get home for dinner."
Feeling slighted, He Chao said indignantly, "Four years ago, you got lucky and beat me by a hair in Shangjing. It’s perfect that you’ve delivered yourself to me today so I can wash away that shame. That porcelain LaFerrari of yours is quite nice; it’ll be mine soon."
Su Qianqian couldn't be bothered with his chatter. She rolled up the window and slammed on the gas. The LaFerrari shot forward, then executed a 180-degree drift to position itself at the starting line of the mountain descent.
Lu Ye buckled his seatbelt and asked, "You beat him before?"
Su Qianqian tilted her head, trying to recall, then shook her head. "Too many people challenged me in Shangjing. I can’t remember them all, but I don’t think I’ve ever lost."
Lu Ye gave her a thumbs-up. "Thirteenth Lady, you’re a legend!"
He Chao gritted his teeth as he returned to his car. The GTR, originally Chen Yu's, was far superior to his own previous vehicle, so he used it as his primary machine. It boasted over a thousand horsepower—more than Su Qianqian’s LaFerrari.
But racing isn't measured by horsepower alone. Lu Ye had once humiliated Chen Yu’s Pagani using a Wuling Hongguang! The question was, He Chao’s skill was a tier or two above Chen Yu’s. Could Su Qianqian outrun him? Honestly, Lu Ye wasn't entirely sure, but as long as the "old woman" was having fun, that was all that mattered.
The GTR pulled up alongside the LaFerrari. Chen Yu acted as the starter: "3, 2, 1, go!"
*Boom!*
Both supercars launched instantly. The GTR, with its thousand horsepower, nearly lifted its front wheels, shooting forward like it had a rocket booster attached.
Su Qianqian chuckled. "Brute."
Lu Ye gripped the handle to brace against the intense G-force. "Our car has less horsepower, but it’s lighter and track-tuned. The start shouldn't be any worse than that GTR, right?"
Su Qianqian nodded. "Of course not, but I didn't want to increase mechanical wear, so I held back a little."
Seeing her confidence, Lu Ye relaxed and watched the race quietly, not wanting to distract her.
The GTR only held a slight lead for the short straightaway after the start. Once they hit the winding, tortuous turns, the LaFerrari stuck to the GTR’s tail like a shadow.
From the observation deck at the summit, Chen Yu saw it all clearly. The LaFerrari’s choice of racing lines and braking timing were precise to the millisecond. Wang Wenbin, who had driven the Lamborghini, stood beside him, stunned.
"Chen Yu, is that beautiful woman driving?"
Chen Yu nodded blankly. "That’s my mistress. I had no idea she was this good!"
Wang Wenbin took a sharp breath, sweating for his captain. From a spectator's perspective, it was clear that Su Qianqian had superior control. There were no wasted movements, no sloppy steering corrections—the LaFerrari was performing a textbook masterclass on mountain driving. The car’s roar echoed through the valley like a phoenix’s cry. Although He Chao was still leading, Wang Wenbin felt he could be overtaken at any moment.
Soon, both cars reached the U-shaped hairpin turn where Lu Ye had previously embarrassed Chen Yu. Chen Yu stared, eyes wide, afraid to blink. That was the spot where he had watched Lu Ye take his hands off the steering wheel to light a cigarette and blow a kiss during a drift! He had developed a psychological trauma from that corner, often hallucinating that a Wuling Hongguang was behind him, ready to crush him. He was eager to see how his mistress would handle it.
He Chao was panicking. He had pushed himself to the limit, suppressing the fear of flying off the cliff, driving like a madman. Yet, the elegant porcelain LaFerrari remained stuck to him like a parasite.
Su Qianqian’s style wasn't as flamboyant as Lu Ye’s. She simply stayed on the optimal racing line, without a millimeter of deviation, her control over the throttle and brake exquisite. If not for He Chao blocking the way, she could have set a record.
Both drivers knew this U-shaped turn would decide the outcome. The remaining mountain road was too narrow to overtake. If He Chao held this corner, his chances of winning would skyrocket; if she passed him, he was finished.
"I’ll bet my life and dignity to beat you, you bitch!" He Chao roared to himself, keeping his foot pinned to the floor.
As they neared the braking point, He Chao pushed to the limit, slamming on the brakes so hard the GTR’s discs glowed red. But the roar of the LaFerrari behind him didn't fade; it grew louder.
"Is she insane? No braking? She’s accelerating!"
He Chao watched as the LaFerrari pulled out from behind him, cutting into the inside lane. "Taking the inside at this speed? If you want to commit suicide, don't drag me with you!"
He Chao slammed his brakes again, causing the GTR to slow down, allowing the LaFerrari to pull ahead. Though he had been passed, He Chao was certain Su Qianqian wouldn't make the turn.
"Stupid! She’s going to fly off the cliff with the car. What a waste of a LaFerrari..."
Before he could finish the thought, he heard a sharp *clack!* Then, his jaw hit the floor. The LaFerrari hugged the inner edge of the curve like a high-speed roller coaster and whipped around. It didn't use a dramatic drift; all four tires stayed glued to the road. It looked simple, but it defied the laws of physics. At over 100 kilometers per hour, the centrifugal force should have made it impossible for the tires to hold the road, yet she turned with effortless ease.
He Chao fell hundreds of meters behind, his mind reeling. "How is this possible?"
Only Chen Yu, watching from the summit, understood. He covered his mouth, whispering in disbelief, "My god... that’s the legendary gutter-run technique!"
