The Stubborn Leading Man Who Refused to Eat, Volume 7
Previously, Xu Weiwan would never have dared to give herself such a cold shoulder, especially in front of Lin Yang.
Xu Weilai was feeling uneasy and determined not to let Xu Weiwan feel any comfort. So she smiled even more sweetly. "We brought Mantou over for you. Sister, it’s not that Brother Lin Yang doesn’t like Mantou; it’s really because of me. Right now, it’s a bit inconvenient for me to keep a dog."
As she spoke, she placed her hand on her abdomen, a hint of shyness on her face. "Sister, you’re going to be an aunt. You’re happy for me too, aren’t you?"
Si Jiu’s expression was indifferent. "Congratulations. I won’t see you out."
Xu Weilai was taken aback. "Sister, won’t you invite Brother Lin Yang and me upstairs for a visit? I haven’t seen your new place yet."
"The house is messy, not suitable for guests. Please understand." Si Jiu stood up, grabbed the dog’s leash, and walked away. "Mantou, let’s go home."
Her composure left Xu Weilai disappointed.
Originally, since she couldn’t get her hands on Si Jiu’s apartment for the time being, she at least wanted to upset her, to see her sad and distressed.
But Si Jiu’s reaction left Xu Weilai stifled.
Lin Yang, however, noticed much more.
Weiwan looked calm on the surface, but the loneliness in her eyes could not escape him.
"Why is Sister like this? Does she really dislike me?" Xu Weilai pouted.
"Don’t think nonsense. If she blames anyone, it should be me. After all, I was the one who changed first."
"I won’t let you blame yourself like that." Xu Weilai grumbled, "Sigh. Mom and Dad miss her, but she won’t come back, won’t even call."
Watching Si Jiu’s figure disappear, Lin Yang felt a sudden, inexplicable anxiety and blurted out, "She’ll come around. Oh no, I forgot to give her Mantou’s toys and dog food. Wait in the car, I’ll take them up to your sister."

Xu Weilai didn’t say anything for a moment, instead staring straight at Lin Yang.
"Ahem... what is it?"
"Do you... want to..."
"No. What are you thinking? I just don’t want you to get tired since you’re not feeling well."
Xu Weilai bit her lip, but seeing Lin Yang’s affectionate gaze, she felt reassured. "Go quickly then."
Si Jiu had just opened the door when Lin Yang caught up to her.
Seeing her about to close the door, Lin Yang hurriedly braced the door open, not letting her shut it.
"Weiwan, wait a moment."
"Lin Yang, let go."
"I don’t mean anything else, I just came to bring you Mantou’s things. Without this turtle, Mantou can’t sleep well. Also, this bone toy is—"
"Lin Yang, what’s the point of this?"
"What?" Lin Yang paused.
"If you’ve already chosen to change your heart, then be thorough. Don’t appear in front of me again.
If you’ve decided not to keep Mantou, then be decisive. Don’t worry about whether it sleeps well or eats enough.
What are you doing now?"

Lin Yang stared blankly at Si Jiu, seeing the gloss slowly gather in her dark eyes, her voice trembling despite her effort to be strong and heartless, echoing in his ears again and again.
"I... Weiwan, don’t be like this. Even if we’ve broken up, can we really throw away five years of feelings together? I just can’t stop worrying about you.
Mantou has been with me for five years, I—"
"You threw it away easily enough. Don’t pretend. Let go." Si Jiu pushed him.
He was glared at, and her actions made Lin Yang feel she was more like being coquettish than angry.
He had never seen this side of Xu Weiwan before.
She’d always been as bland as unseasoned water, dull and unremarkable, but now that she was alive with emotion, she was unexpectedly captivating.
Lin Yang’s heart fluttered. He instinctively took Si Jiu’s hand and placed it over his chest. "Weiwan..."
Si Jiu’s face darkened. Damn it, she was about to break character!
"Please move aside."
A man’s voice suddenly interrupted, so pleasant that Si Jiu’s eyes lit up. She looked at the newcomer with surprise and delight.
