“Sealing spell? What is that?”

Ignoring Zhang Yang’s question, White Shadow stared in astonishment at Flame’s right arm. Could it be… could this fellow have grasped the secret of the Black Dragon Wave in such a short time?

“Begin!”

At the referee’s cry, the War God charged forward and swung his enormous axe down at Flame. The weapon tore through the air with a thunderous roar. It struck the ground as easily as though cutting through tofu, burying itself deep in the stone of the arena.

The War God’s attack speed could ordinarily be described as blindingly fast, and even the movements of his great axe were as swift as lightning. Yet compared with Flame’s speed, his swing seemed to move in slow motion, and Flame simply ignored it.

“Take this seriously. I don’t even feel like counterattacking.”

Standing behind the War God, Flame wore an impatient expression. He truly could not be bothered to respond to such an attack. It possessed no killing power whatsoever, and its astonishing slowness failed even to stir his desire to move.

Hearing the voice behind him, the War God turned and looked at Flame. In Flame’s eyes, he saw a kind of provocation he had not encountered in a long time. Without saying a word, he tightened his grip with his right hand and used the axe to lever up a massive slab of rock nearly five meters long. With a twist of his wrist, he balanced the stone atop the weapon.

“What terrifying brute strength!”

Seeing how effortlessly the War God handled it, Zhang Yang could scarcely believe his eyes. The gigantic axe and the huge rock seemed to weigh nothing in his hands, as though he were merely holding air. Could this man alter the Earth’s gravity? He was utterly monstrous. Everyone on the Skyfang Team was a freak!

The War God gently raised the axe and flung it toward Flame. The rock balanced upon it flew through the air as well.

Was he planning to use that stone against Flame?

“What kind of trick is this supposed to be…?”

Flame raised an arm to shield himself from the fragments and dust. Just as the enormous rock neared him, it struck the ground, sending a cloud of dust and shards of stone spraying toward him.

“So fast!”

Flame lifted his arm and blocked the flying debris. But just as he was about to lower it, the War God had already charged in. Qin Xiaochuan, watching from below, cried out in alarm.

Despite his massive build, the War God’s speed seemed no slower than Flame’s. The instant the rock left his hands, he had followed behind it. Using the dust thrown up by the impact as cover, he had already reached Flame’s side. Raising his axe, he brought it viciously down toward Flame’s head.

His timing was perfect. Once the axe began its descent, he gave Flame no chance to evade.

Knowing that Flame was extraordinarily fast, the War God had used the rock’s enormous bulk as cover and the flying debris to draw Flame’s attention. He knew Flame would not bother dodging an attack like that, so the instant Flame raised his arm to block, the War God had rushed in and swung his axe down.

What a terrifying opponent. He possessed not only immense strength, but also the tactical insight to stay one step ahead of his enemy. His mind was meticulous and frightening. This time, Flame had truly met his match.

“He can’t escape!”

Seeing the War God’s attack, Sikong Lang laughed from below. He knew Flame would never be able to avoid it.

Just as Sikong Lang had predicted, it was already too late to dodge—and Flame had never intended to evade in the first place.

“Hmph!”

Looking at the axe descending toward his head, Flame gave a soft snort and raised his left hand to meet it, as though he did not regard the War God’s weapon as a threat at all.

Before the axe even touched Flame’s body, it suddenly burst apart like chocolate melting beneath intense heat. Molten iron splashed in every direction, and where it struck the War God’s armor, wisps of blue smoke rose into the air.

No wonder Flame had remained unconcerned. His control over the black flames had already reached a flawless level. His entire body seemed to contain an immense reservoir of energy, saturated with the black fire of the demon realm. The flames within him had reached a temperature so high they seemed ready to explode. Like a volcano on the verge of eruption, Flame’s body held a terrifying, explosive power.

“!”

“I told you to show me your true strength.”

Looking at the War God, smoke rising from his body, Flame began to lose his temper.

“Do you really think you can fight me with a piece of scrap metal that contains not the slightest trace of demonic aura? I’m getting angry now!”

“The axe… it melted like chocolate!”

Zhang Yang stared at Flame with his mouth hanging open. Was this fellow really human? He was practically walking magma. It was far too dangerous. Even an axe that enormous had melted in an instant. If he ever offended this monster by accident, one touch from him might… Zhang Yang broke out in a cold sweat. He would have to keep well away from that boy from now on.

“What a terrifying fellow.”

White Shadow was secretly astonished as well. He had never imagined that Flame’s ability to control fire could have improved so dramatically in only a few days. With nothing more than the heat of his left hand, Flame had melted the War God’s axe. It seemed he had completely mastered the Black Dragon Wave.

What a monster.

“So… that is how it is.”

Looking at Flame across the arena, the War God spoke for the first time since entering the match.

“Apparently, you are not an opponent I can defeat while wearing this armor. My apologies for my earlier discourtesy.”

As he spoke, the War God began removing his armor.

“Oh my! Did everyone hear that? The War God, who never speaks during a match, has finally said something for the first time! How thrilling! His voice is so deep and resonant—simply the epitome of manliness!”

Ignoring Miss Star Dream’s commentary, the War God unfastened the armor from his shoulder and casually tossed it beyond the arena.

A dull boom echoed below. No one knew what the shoulder guard was made of, but it sank deeply into the concrete floor. Who would have imagined that a single piece of shoulder armor could be so heavy? Its weight was horrifying.

“Has that fellow really been fighting while wearing armor this heavy?”

Recalling the speed of the War God’s attacks, Zhang Yang’s mind went blank. Good heavens! One shoulder guard alone weighed this much. If the entire suit was taken into account, it must weigh several thousand pounds at least.

How could anyone fight while carrying that?

“Get up there and beat him down already! I’m talking to you, spiky-haired boy!”

After taking a swig of liquor, the drunken Susu pointed at Flame and shouted, “Take advantage of this chance and knock him flat! How can you be so terrible at seizing an opportunity? Gulp… Ah… honestly…”

“That wouldn’t happen. With Flame’s personality, he would never do something like that.”

Xia Dan gave Susu an embarrassed smile and hurriedly waved her hands in explanation.

“Most people wear armor for protection. Mine serves a somewhat different purpose.”

After removing his helmet, the War God finally revealed his true face. A huge scar marked his resolute features. With silver hair and a sun-shaped scar directly between his brows, he possessed an unmistakably masculine presence.

Yet the scar on his forehead was terrifying. It looked as though he had suffered a devastating impact. It ran from his forehead across the bridge of his nose before splitting down toward his cheek. He must have endured a terrible blow in the past.

Looking at Flame, the War God’s eyes shone with determination and confidence. He clenched both fists, and a feeling of fullness and ease rose from deep within him. After removing all the armor that had weighed him down, he felt indescribably comfortable.

“I wore that armor to suppress the strength throughout my body—to suppress power even I cannot control!”

As he spoke, the War God released the demonic aura within him. A colossal force enveloped his body tightly. The aura spilling from beneath his feet lifted him into the air, forming something like a cross blazing with dazzling white light.

The War God spread his arms and looked down at Flame.

“You should show me your true strength as well. I will treasure it as a beautiful memory!”

“Armed Battle Aura? So this is the War God’s true armor.”

White Shadow stared at the War God in shock. He had never seen a demon possess such an enormous aura, much less one capable of lifting its wielder into the air. This fellow was clearly not speaking empty words. He had absolute confidence in what he was saying.

Flame had truly met his match. This War God would not be defeated easily.

“You will regret this.”

Looking at the War God suspended in midair, Flame became serious as well. Everything that had happened so far had not even qualified as a warm-up. But when the War God removed his armor and released the immense demonic aura within him, Flame felt a dangerous pressure that forced him to face the battle in earnest.

He began unwinding the bandages around his right arm, one loop at a time. The power sealed within his arm was beginning to emerge.

“He’s removing the bandages?”

Watching Flame unbind his arm, Zhang Yang turned to White Shadow.

“What did you mean earlier when you said there was a seal on Flame’s arm? And what about that spell? What exactly is it?”

“It works on the same principle as the armor worn by the War God. The bandages binding Flame’s right arm are meant to suppress his own power. Once that seal is removed, it releases a terrifying force that even Flame himself cannot fully control.”

White Shadow watched the War God and Flame, a bead of cold sweat sliding down his temple.

“If those two terrifying powers collide here, the entire arena could be blown into the sky…”
