Chapter 23: Super Weapon R1, Commander Matsunaga

No matter how chaotic Lin Yu’s mind felt, there was no time left for him to ponder.

The Alien Imperial was already upon them!

"You want to make my Eleking your pet?"

"You had better have the capital to back that up!"

Lin Yu took a deep breath, his eyes turning icy.

"Eleking, pull yourself together! Entangle him and fight on the ground!"

Lin Yu issued the order!

"Gegi!!"

Hearing Lin Yu’s command, Eleking let out a fierce, shrill cry! Its tail lashed out heavily toward the Alien Imperial!

There was a charred, blackened wound on its abdomen; this was the reason for Eleking’s frenzy. Had Eleking not been sufficiently powerful, and had the Alien Imperial’s attack not been specifically designed to counter light-based lifeforms like Ultraman, Eleking would likely have been critically injured by now. It had taken the full brunt of the Alien Imperial’s ultimate move head-on!

"What ferocity!"

"The alien controlling you must be a Pitt-seijin, right? A low-level lifeform that can’t even achieve giant form—it’s a waste for them to possess you!"

"You’d be better off submitting to me!"

The Alien Imperial dodged Eleking’s tail strike, its pincers crackling with electric energy as it engaged Eleking in melee combat!

The Pitt-seijin, codenamed the Transformation Aliens, originated from Planet Pitt. They first appeared in the *Ultraseven* TV series and later made cameos in several New Generation installments. They could not grow to giant size and were generally weak, but they were skilled at raising Eleking. Most Elekings appearing in the universe originated from them; their bond was comparable to that of the Nackle-seijin and Black King. It was understandable that the Alien Imperial assumed Eleking was being controlled by a Pitt-seijin.

The two were locked in a heated battle.

On the rooftop, Lin Yu picked up his radio and contacted Daigo, Shinjoh, Rena, and Aihara Ryu simultaneously! He hadn't contacted Munakata or Serizawa yet, simply because he hadn't had the chance to exchange contact information with them.

"This alien is called an Alien Imperial, codenamed the Extreme Evil Alien. He is cruel, powerful, and likely an accomplice to the Alien Zarab we killed earlier!"

"He has many attack methods: light whips made of electricity, flames spewed from his mouth, extreme flight speed, and beam techniques. Be extremely careful; do not engage in close quarters. Use long-range attrition to help Eleking. If necessary, draw the hostility of the remaining three monsters toward him!"

Lin Yu spoke, revealing intelligence on the Alien Imperial. If it were just one Alien Imperial, it wouldn't be difficult to kill. But the problem was that the Alien Guts and Alien Nackle might be present as well! And there were still the three subterranean monsters.

Expecting Eleking, having just killed Gudon, to endure its injuries to take down the Alien Imperial while also contending with the Alien Guts, the Alien Nackle, and three rampaging subterranean monsters... that was asking far too much of Eleking.

"The Extreme Evil Alien? Doesn't sound like anything good just from the name," Shinjoh said, his voice grave.

"An accomplice to the Alien Zarab? Is their goal to completely destroy our human armaments?" Daigo frowned. The Alien Zarab had tried to infiltrate GUTS, and now the Alien Imperial was launching an aggressive assault. Whether they were enemies was self-evident. Even more worrying was whether there were other aliens behind them.

"He actually wants to take Eleking as a pet? What an arrogant guy!" Rena said with disdain. Like Hibiki, she felt the same way about Eleking—how could such a powerful and cute monster exist? Hearing the Alien Imperial’s words made her feel nothing but contempt.

"Regardless, we just need to take him down, right?" Aihara Ryu took a deep breath, watching the Alien Imperial grappling with Eleking, and prepared to open fire! However, a car was flung toward him, forcing him to maneuver his craft to dodge, changing his plans.

Sadola, Telesdon, and Detton had yet to be dealt with!

The chaos on the field intensified. Such a massive brawl naturally caught the attention of GUTS headquarters. Unlike the GUYS team, where even the captain, Serizawa, took to the field, GUTS Captain Iruma preferred to focus on command and managing all aspects of the situation. She had not joined the front lines.

But at this moment, she was monitoring the battle closely, especially after the Alien Imperial appeared and displayed strength surpassing that of the subterranean monsters. She didn't even dare to blink. The tea beside her, once steaming hot, had long since lost all its warmth.

"We have reports. Early yesterday morning, the Alien Imperial appeared in the center of Katu City on the North American continent across the Pacific. He killed two other aliens. Casualties in Katu City were severe, and the defense squad responsible for its protection was completely wiped out!"

Naoe looked up and relayed the news, which had come in over an hour ago. The expressions of Iruma and Horii darkened further.

"Indiscriminate attacks on aliens, defense squads, and even ordinary people?"

"This guy is seizing territory!" Horii slammed his fist onto his chair, his round face masking no anger.

"What resources do we have available right now?" Iruma asked.

"Currently, we don't ha—"

"Of course you do!"

A stiff, formal voice cut him off! The doors to the GUTS conference room opened, and a man in a neat suit, his hair half-black and half-white and groomed to perfection, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, walked in with several assistants! His gaze was stern and cold. He looked at the satellite screen, where the Alien Imperial, Eleking, and the three subterranean monsters were fighting, his eyes showing undisguised disgust!

"Who are you?" Horii demanded. But no one answered him.

"Captain Iruma, I recall that the improved version of the Earth Alliance’s forbidden weapon, [Super Weapon R2], has been delivered to the GUTS armory, has it not?"

"I demand the use of the Super Weapon R2 to eliminate these disastrous beasts!" The man pointed at the monsters and aliens on the screen, his tone harsh and commanding.

"Super Weapon R1? Improved R2? What are those?" Horii and Naoe looked confused; these were names they had never heard.

But Iruma’s expression changed drastically!

"Commander Matsunaga, do you know what you are saying?"

"If that weapon is used, the consequences will be unthinkable. That place... is Tokyo!"

"The Earth Alliance has clearly stipulated that the Super Weapon R2 can only be used as a last resort in non-residential areas!"

"As a pivotal member of the Earth Alliance, you should know this better than anyone!" Iruma gritted her teeth and shouted.

"Five monsters and an alien that slaughtered a city—does the current situation not constitute a last resort?"

"Captain Iruma, watch your attitude!" Commander Matsunaga’s eyes darkened. He looked at Iruma, who dared to slam her hand on the table against him, with great displeasure.

"...My apologies." Iruma took a deep breath.

"But my view remains the same. Although the R2 is much weaker than the R1, it is still powerful enough to destroy an entire district. If used in Tokyo, countless people will die!"

"Furthermore, Eleking is still fighting, and the GUTS and GUYS teams are still in the fray!"

"We have not been pushed into a corner yet!" Iruma tried to keep her voice calm.

If Lin Yu were here, he would surely understand what the Super Weapon R1 was. It was... the black-tech weapon from the *Ultraseven* TV series, capable of planet-level destruction! It had obliterated Planet Kielon in one shot, which in turn birthed the monster Kielon-seijin! This thing was no less dangerous than the missile the Science Patrol used to kill Zetton!

And Commander Matsunaga was that ruthless hawk from the *Ultraman Nexus* TV series! He was the one who captured the Nexus Dunamist, Himeya Jun, and subjected him to human experimentation. He had even captured Senju Ren for testing. He believed that a Dunamist was "merely a container for light" and had calculated the utility of using the light of Ultraman Nexus as a weapon. To deal with Space Beasts, he wouldn't hesitate to use the people of an entire city as bait! He was, quite frankly, a total monster. It was no wonder he could utter the insane proposal of dropping a planet-killer cannon in the middle of a city.

"Captain Iruma!" Commander Matsunaga’s voice was severe!

"You actually trust a monster to fight that alien and the other monsters on behalf of humanity! You are hopelessly naive!"

"Leaving them to continue this dogfight will only plunge Tokyo into despair!"

"That Eleking contains nuclear energy in its body; it’s a ticking time bomb anyway. We might as well destroy it at the same time!"

"At the cost of one city district, we can kill a blood-soaked alien, a walking nuclear bomb, and three monsters. I believe the citizens will understand!"

"As a special envoy of the Earth Alliance, I order you to launch the Super Weapon R2 immediately!"

Commander Matsunaga was aggressive and overbearing! Iruma trembled slightly, her teeth clenched.

"Get out..."

"What?" Commander Matsunaga hadn't heard clearly.

"I said, get out!!"

"GUTS refuses to follow this order!"

"Eleking is a monster standing on the side of humanity, and the citizens are not sacrifices for you to discard at will!"

"Get lost!"

The usually intellectual and rational Iruma actually swore, pointing at Commander Matsunaga’s face!

"You!!!" Commander Matsunaga’s old face flushed red with anger! But seeing Horii and Naoe standing up behind Iruma with hostile expressions, he swallowed his anger. He turned and left! His assistants scrambled to follow.

"Captain Iruma, there is nothing I want to do that can be stopped by anyone!"

His angry voice echoed as his footsteps receded into the distance.
