Chapter 5: The Immortal of Great Abundance

While Leon was interrogating the beggar, two tall men on the second floor of the restaurant opposite the pawnshop witnessed his feat of taking on four opponents single-handedly.
“That kid fights fiercely,” said one of the men in a suit and glasses, leaning on the railing with keen interest as he watched Leon gather the spoils. “And his muscles are strong, full of vigor...”
At this, he narrowed his eyes slightly.
By “full of vigor,” he meant the young man was still a novice, though the glasses-wearing man hadn’t considered that the youth downstairs, despite his age, was still inexperienced.
“Too bad he’s a bit old,” he added.
The man with the so-called ‘Divine Spirit’ ability could sense that the other’s energy was ordinary, no different from a common person.
However, the long-haired man beside him, with a rebellious look, remained silent, only asking with some concern, “How does the sect leader plan to help me?”
Upon hearing this, the man with glasses wiped the smile from his face and nodded toward two young boys in gray training uniforms approaching from a distance. “Those are the Zhang brothers who have been accepted into the Trinity Sect...”
...
Elsewhere, Leon, unaware he was being discussed, was counting his loot.
Truth be told, a beggar was a beggar—after searching him thoroughly, Leon found only a dozen copper coins, barely enough to buy a single bun.
Still, Leon had acquired the information he needed.
“Trinity Sect...” he muttered to himself, narrowing his eyes slightly. “Under the heavens, second to none?”
The Trinity Sect was a Taoist sect from the comic Leon had read before crossing over—*Under the Heavens*. But if memory served, that sect had already been destroyed at the beginning of the original story.
Except that the original story was set in modern times, while Leon was now in the Republic of China era, so the timing matched up.
Leon wasn’t particularly shocked at having crossed into *Under the Heavens*. After all, given that crossover was already happening, entering a comic world he’d read seemed less remarkable.
If anything, it made seeking power easier.
“So the major event I’m about to face is the fall of the Trinity Sect?” Since he’d only learned this name and the current year from the beggar, the thought naturally came to him. “Or is this Trinity Sect different from that one?”
He didn’t jump to conclusions. To find out the truth, he would see for himself.
With that resolve, Leon didn’t hesitate and headed toward the direction the beggar had indicated. Just then, two boys in gray training outfits passed by him.
The Trinity Sect’s mountain gate wasn’t far from the small town where Leon had arrived. Perhaps because of this, he hadn’t encountered mountain bandits or thieves along the way.

Soon, small courtyards nestled at the foot of the mountain came into view.
Seeing the words “Trinity Sect” above the gate, he knew he was in the right place.
With a mix of anticipation and nervousness, Leon knocked on the gate. Before long, a young man wearing a white Taoist robe opened the door.
The young man sized up Leon, who was still somewhat dirty from the fight, and asked, “What is your business?”
Leon awkwardly bowed and said, “I have admired the Trinity Sect since childhood. I have come to seek apprenticeship and learn the Way.”
Upon hearing this, the young man’s expression turned strange. After a moment’s thought, he said, “Although the Trinity Sect does not concern itself with the origins of disciples...”
“Your age is a bit advanced.”
This was a polite way of putting it. Genuine Taoist sects usually took in children; even older disciples were often no more than teenagers. But Leon?
To be frank, he was at least in his twenties.
Clearly, this did not conform to the rules of the Trinity Sect.
It wasn’t that older students couldn’t pursue the Way, but young children’s minds were like blank slates, making it easier for sects to shape them.
Additionally, foundational cultivation was more suitable for the young, so they rarely accepted older disciples.
Thinking this, the young man shook his head slightly, then prepared to close the door, saying, “Sorry, you must seek elsewhere.”
Seeing this, Leon felt a surge of urgency. He wanted to say, “Can’t you be a little flexible with the age? I’m still in my prime.”
But he knew such words would be futile.
Recalling the plot briefly, Leon gritted his teeth and said, “Skill is skill, and the Way is the Way. No matter how long you wear a hat, it won’t turn into a brain!”
“I hope you can convey these words to Left Gate Master!”
After speaking, he stepped forward and took out the only silver coin he had, attempting to press it into the young man’s hand.
The young man frowned and took a step back, scolding, “Do you think the Taoist sect is a place for bribery?!”
He tried to close the door again.
But seeing Leon’s earnest desperation, he hesitated.

To be honest, he was curious about what Leon had just said—they seemed closely related to the Trinity Sect.
After a moment of silence, the young man sighed and said, “Very well, wait here. I will inform my master and then decide.”
With that, he turned and hurried up the mountain.
Seeing this, Leon breathed a sigh of relief. He knew that no matter the outcome, he had taken the first step.
He understood this move was bold, but to gain the power to protect himself, he had to take risks.
Leon preferred to investigate the existence of the supernatural slowly and methodically; he didn’t have to join the Trinity Sect.
But who could say when this great event would end? He remembered the previous major event, the “New Star of the Insect Clan,” which had concluded within days.
Leon didn’t want to find a lead only to have it vanish suddenly.
Moreover, judging by the temperament of the Grand Sheng Immortal in the original story, he believed he shouldn’t be in much danger... hopefully.
Before long, the young man returned in a hurry.
He looked at Leon with a complicated expression, biting his lip slightly. “...Come with me. Master wants to see you.”
At this, Leon’s heart leapt with joy, and he followed quickly.
The true mountain gate of the Trinity Sect was at the summit, some distance from the small courtyard below, but with Leon’s current physical condition, the walk was nothing.
Soon, the young man led Leon to a side hall.
“Go in. Master is waiting.”
Leon thanked him and pushed open the door.
The next moment, a man with an ethereal presence and white hair appeared before his eyes.
This man was the sect leader of the Trinity Sect.
The Grand Sheng Immortal, Zuo Ruotong!
