Chapter 2: A Single Silver Needle Turns Foolish Zhu into a Weakling!
The atmosphere in the room froze instantly.
Qin Huairu’s face turned pale; she hadn’t expected Jia Zhang to reveal everything.
“Mom, what… what’s wrong with you?” Qin Huairu asked with a trembling voice.
At that moment, Jia Zhang snapped back to her senses, realizing she had said something she shouldn’t have.
“I… what did I just say?”
“You said a lot of interesting things,” Chen Mo sneered as he looked at them.
“For example, that First Uncle sent you to divide up my inheritance, or that you wanted to scare me to death.”
“I didn’t say that! I didn’t say anything!” Jia Zhang hurriedly denied, but it was too late.
Outside the room, many neighbors had already gathered, having heard every word of the conversation.
“My goodness, what did Jia Zhang just say?”
“She said First Uncle sent them to split Chen Mo’s inheritance?”
“And that they wanted to scare Chen Mo to death? That’s so cruel!”
The murmurs grew louder, and Qin Huairu knew everything was out in the open.
A cruel glint flashed through her eyes as she decided to strike first.
“Chen Mo, stop spouting nonsense!”
“We came to see you with good intentions, yet you’re slandering us!”
“And you even hit my mom—do you have any conscience?”
As Qin Huairu spoke, tears began to fall.
“Neighbors, you all saw it—Chen Mo is biting the hand that feeds him!”
“We came with the best of intentions, and he accuses us of trying to harm him!”
The neighbors whispered among themselves; some were swayed by Qin Huairu’s tears.
“Qin Huairu’s usually a decent person, not the type to cause harm.”
“Yeah, she’s a widow raising three children; it’s not easy for her.”
“Is Chen Mo losing his mind?”
Listening to these words, Chen Mo sneered coldly inwardly.
This was Qin Huairu’s strength—just a few tears could turn right into wrong.
“Chen Mo, apologize!”
A stern voice came from outside the door.
Yi Zhonghai entered, his face dark.
“Huairu and the others came with good intentions to see you, yet you hit people, insult them, and spread rumors.”
“You must apologize to them!”
Chen Mo looked at Yi Zhonghai, his anger rising.
This old fox was finally showing his true colors.
“First Uncle, why should I apologize?”
“They just said with their own mouths that you sent them to divide my inheritance.”
“Nonsense!” Yi Zhonghai shouted sharply.
“When did I ever say such things?”
“You’re slandering me!”
“Slandering?” Chen Mo sneered.
“Then explain why they know the exact amount of my compensation?”
“Why would they say that after I die, the house belongs to the Jia family?”
Yi Zhonghai’s expression changed; these details were indeed difficult to explain.
“Th-That might be their guess.”
“Guess?”
Chen Mo pressed on relentlessly.
“They guessed so accurately? Even the exact amount of the compensation?”
The neighbors began to murmur.
“Yes, that is strange.”
“How would Jia Zhang know the amount of Chen Mo’s compensation?”
“Unless someone told her.”
Feeling the doubtful gazes of the crowd, Yi Zhonghai grew anxious.
“Zhuzi, come here!”
He called out to the hallway.
He Yuzhu strode in angrily.
“Chen Mo, you damn bastard, how dare you bully Sister Qin?”
“Today, I’m going to teach you a lesson!”
He Yuzhu rolled up his sleeves, ready to strike.
The neighbors all stepped back, knowing how heavy his punches were.
“Zhuzi, don’t be impulsive!”
“Chen Mo’s still sick; if you throw a punch, someone might get seriously hurt!”
But He Yuzhu wouldn’t listen; he was already utterly bewitched by Qin Huairu.
“I’m going to vent for Sister Qin today!”
He swung his fist toward Chen Mo.
Chen Mo’s eyes grew cold, and suddenly a silver needle appeared in his hand.
It was one of the set of silver needles rewarded by the system, specially designed to strike pressure points and incapacitate foes.
“Whoosh!”
The silver needle precisely pierced He Yuzhu’s pressure point.
He Yuzhu’s fist froze mid-air, and his whole body began to tremble.
“What… what’s happening to me?”
He Yuzhu felt weakness spread through his limbs, his legs shaking.
“Thud!”
He collapsed heavily to his knees, unable to stand.
“My legs… why do my legs feel so weak?”
He looked at his legs in terror, trying to rise but failing.
The neighbors were all stunned.
“What’s going on?”
“Why did Zhuzi suddenly kneel down?”
“What did Chen Mo do?”
Chen Mo sheathed the silver needle, looking coldly at the kneeling He Yuzhu.
“Tried to hit me? You think you’re worthy?”
“You… what did you do to me?”
He Yuzhu asked in panic.
“Nothing much, just helping you calm down.”
Chen Mo said indifferently.
“Still want to stand up for Qin Huairu now?”
He Yuzhu wanted to retort harshly but dared not meet Chen Mo’s icy gaze.
He had fought countless battles since childhood but never encountered such a thing.
Clearly, the other seemed near death, yet could easily subdue him.
It was utterly bizarre!
“Chen Mo, release Zhuzi at once!”
Yi Zhonghai panicked; He Yuzhu was an important pawn, and he couldn’t afford for anything to happen.
“Release him?”
Chen Mo sneered.
“He tried to beat me to death, and now you want me to release him?”
“First Uncle, your logic is amusing.”
“They can bully me, but I’m not allowed to fight back?”
Yi Zhonghai was speechless.
Indeed, He Yuzhu started the fight; Chen Mo’s counterattack was justified.
“Chen Mo, what are your conditions?”
Yi Zhonghai gritted his teeth, knowing he had to save He Yuzhu or lose control over his men in the future.
A sinister gleam flashed in Chen Mo’s eyes.
