“Someone’s being robbed!”
“Someone’s being robbed!”
Zheng Yi shouted loudly, bewildered as he looked at Conan, who was robbing him.
He never imagined a day would come when Conan would rob him.
He was still a bit confused about what had just happened.
The restaurant security staff heard Zheng Yi’s shout and quickly rushed over. They looked at Zheng Yi, then glanced at the child who was ‘escaping.’
Did that child really rob an adult like you?
While they were puzzled, Zheng Yi scowled and said, “Catch him quickly! That brat just stole my briefcase!”
“Ah!”
The frail Conan was soon pinned to the ground by the security guards.
Zheng Yi snatched back his briefcase and glared fiercely at Conan. “I’ve long heard that some robbers use children to lower others’ guard and commit crimes. I didn’t expect to encounter it myself this time.
Tell me! Where are your accomplices?”
Conan struggled briefly but to no avail, then said, “Quick, throw that briefcase away! There’s a bomb inside, and it’s about to explode. It must be thrown to a place where no one is around.”
“A bomb?”
“That’s right! The guy who made the deal with you never intended to pay. There’s a bomb inside; he wants to kill you!” Conan shouted.
Zheng Yi’s expression changed drastically.
A bomb? That guy wants to kill me?
How dare he?
Not willing to gamble with his life, Zheng Yi opened the briefcase, and the bills spilled out.
The pale yellow yen notes dazzled the security guards’ eyes.
They swallowed hard several times before suppressing their greedy impulses.
Meanwhile, Conan looked utterly bewildered. Where’s the bomb?
The man clearly said there was a bomb inside the case.
He can’t be joking, can he?
“Where’s the bomb?”
Yes, where is it? They clearly heard the masked man say he intended to bomb the person making the deal. So where is the bomb?
Zheng Yi tapped Conan’s head. “You sly little brat, even now you’re tricking me, saying there’s a bomb inside the case so I’d throw it to an empty place and you could pick it up, right?”
With all the commotion outside, Kotani Jiro from room 302 also came out.
“Manager Zheng Yi, are you okay?”
Zheng Yi shook his head. “I’m fine. This little thief has already been subdued.”
Conan looked at Kotani Jiro, who came out from room 302, feeling absurd. Did I mistake the person?
This guy didn’t come from room 301; he’s from 302.
The members of the organization should still be inside room 301.
“Ahem.” Conan coughed lightly and said softly, “I made a mistake. This must be a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding?”
Zheng Yi began stacking the bills back into the case, his face stiff as he stared at Conan.
“The surveillance cameras were all watching. You snatched my briefcase without saying a word and ran. I’ll tell you, your age is no excuse for such recklessness.” Zheng Yi dialed the police.
Conan, you little thief, daring to steal my money—go reflect on yourself at the police station.
...
“What’s all the noise outside?” Yukiko glanced towards the door, puzzled.
Yusaku Kudo walked to the doorway and said, “Maybe Shinichi is here? With his reckless nature, it’s normal for him to cause a ruckus before finding us.”
He looked through the peephole.
After their son was shrunk by the mysterious organization’s drug, the two had decided to pose as members of that organization to warn their son.
To warn him to keep a low profile and not be so conspicuous. If the organization discovered he wasn’t dead, it would endanger those around him.
“How did Shinichi end up in police custody?” Yusaku said, stunned.
The real drama hadn’t even started, and this was already Shinichi’s second time in the police station.
“What’s going on?”
Yukiko pushed past Yusaku and peered through the peephole herself.
Yusaku patted his forehead. “I’ll call Inspector Megure first and ask what’s happening.”
It seemed they didn’t even need to step in to teach Shinichi a lesson.
Two visits to the police station within 24 hours was enough education.
After getting the news from Inspector Megure, Yusaku smiled bitterly.
Really, Shinichi was mistaken for a robber. And the person he robbed wasn’t ordinary; the police couldn’t easily release him.
Even if it was a misunderstanding, it had to be resolved satisfactorily.
“Fortunately, I know Zheng Yi’s father; otherwise, it would have been quite troublesome,” Yusaku said.
...
“Hello? This is Zheng Yi.”
“Yusaku Kudo? Oh, the mystery novelist, right? Conan’s your relative? You’re playing a game? A misunderstanding? Got it.”
Zheng Yi hung up and gestured to the police to release the person.
He remembered that his biology professor father liked Yusaku Kudo’s novels very much. Once, when Yusaku visited their home, his father had practically locked him in, saying he couldn’t leave until he finished writing 100,000 words.
That was how Zheng Yi met Yusaku Kudo.
He even once stole Yusaku’s pen.
Conan, now released, looked confused. Has my father returned?
How did he know I was taken by the police?
He was full of questions, but no one could answer them.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you to meet Yusaku Kudo. He said he wants to explain things to me in person,” Zheng Yi said to Conan.
“All right.” Conan nodded.
After all the commotion, the organization members in room 301 probably had already left. It was better to go find Dad and discuss the matter.
With Dad’s help, dealing with the organization would be easier.
Seeing Zheng Yi’s car, Conan stopped in his tracks.
“This is my own car, not something I found,” Zheng Yi explained.
...
“Is it resolved?” Yukiko asked.
“Yes, Zheng Yi is reasonable. We just need to find a time in the next few days to explain things properly,” Yusaku said.
Yukiko rubbed her temples. “So, do we continue?”
Their son had already been taken to the police twice. With Yusaku’s return to Japan now exposed, should they go on?
“Continue!” Yusaku said firmly.
It’s nearly the final step; there’s no reason to stop now and leave things half done.
“We just have to adjust the plot a bit. Actually, exposing my return to Japan isn’t bad—it lets me infiltrate the organization myself,” Yusaku said.
...
“Wait.”
“What’s wrong?” Zheng Yi stopped the car and looked at the panting Inspector Megure running over.
Inspector Megure caught his breath and said to Conan, “Brother Kudo said he’s currently at Dr. Agasa’s house. He told Conan to go there to find him.”
“Got it.” Zheng Yi waved to Inspector Megure.
